FEED UPON GOD’S WORD
By Rev. Dean Beaty 1/26/09
Psalm 119:105&165 “Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.”
“Great peace have they which love Thy law: and nothing shall offend* them.” (KJV)
*Cause to stumble
Some folk revere the Bible, while other people read it.
Also some will study it, while other people heed it.
Some treat it as a horse shoe in hopes it brings good luck.
While others only read it when in trouble they are stuck.
God’s Word is like an anchor that holds when storm winds blow.
We must hide it in our hearts so it’s there where e’er we go.
We need to read it daily as the original soul food,
To keep the spirit healthy and our love for God renewed.
It’s the roots of the “Tree of Life” which holds it in the soil.
In it there is more value than for anything we toil.
It is our only weapon when the Devil comes around.
It’s the “Sword of the Spirit” with which we stand our ground.
The Savior used it wisely when tempted by His foe.
Christ challenged, “It is written,” and the Devil had to go.
Start now to read it daily just like a healthy diet.
Put the Bible to the test. Defy Satan and try it.
If you’ll hide it in your heart, it will light the path ahead.
It gives you peace and comfort when you lie down on your bed.
It will help to cleanse the soul as God’s Spirit works within.
The thing that keeps us from it is our fondness for our sin.
