Where does prayer come in your life?
1/3/2009 8:25:30 AM

WHY  DO  YOU  PRAY?
Philippians 4:6-7 Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus. (King James Version)
By  Rev. Dean Beaty 1/3/09

What brings you to God’s throne of grace,
To seek some wisdom from His face?
Is it when bowed down with care,
That you turn to God in prayer?

Do you meet just when you’re stressed,
Or have some sin that needs confessed?
Panic button type of prayer,
Doesn’t leave much time to spare.

So to the throne of grace you plow,
Because you need it fixed right now.
Why not meet the Lord when calm?
Not just when you need His balm.

Meet with God and stay awhile.
Walk with Him another mile.
God seeks your fellowship in prayer.
He’s free right now with time to spare.

WHEN  DO  YOU  PRAY?

Philippians 4:6  Be careful for nothing; but in every thing

by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests

be made known unto God.” (KJV)

By Rev. Dean Beaty 1/10/09

What’s the first thing that you do when your life’s a lighting rod?

And your trials boom like thunder, do you then call upon God?

When the lightening of affliction is the only light one sees.

There’s no break within the clouds.  Does that bring you to your knees?

How often this last week did you seek God’s company?

Just to spend some time with Him without one emergency.

Did you meet the Lord in prayer just to thank Him for His Grace?

Did you spend some quiet time and there meet Him face to face?

God placed us on this earth for the joy of fellowship.

Then He gave to us His Word that is at our fingertip.

Do we take the time to read it?  Do we meet with Him in prayer?

He has told us in His Word to cast on Him our every care.

Don’t wait until some trial brings you down upon your knees.

Try meeting Him alone when your life is all at ease.

But it’s comforting to know an appointment you don’t need.

He will hear our anxious call, of that we’re guaranteed.

Good word and spirit Rev. Dean,  Yes, we will find the higher blessings when we seek God, not just when we are in great need, but just because we love him.  And indeed, we "will" know the higher blessings; we will know the "Life" that we often seek in many other avenues and ventures, Amen?  I think we often think of God as a sideline in our life, a friend who is there is we need him; I've been guilty also at times. But now, condemnation is not what we need, and God encourages us to partake in the pleasures of his Spirit but does not condemn us if we don't. I have reason to believe that he not only allows us a free will but insists on it!  So then, He says, All "who will" let him come, yes?  And do come today to the Bread of Life who fills our soul in ways that no "things" ever can, who truly does impart to us the heavenly joy which is unspeakable and peace that is not of this world.  I do pray/talk to Jesus, as many I think, while driving. It's one place where you are alone and can bare your heart with God or just have a talk, and so very often he rides with me, and I get so high from his Spirit alone, and Brother, I know well that the highest Joy we can know in this life is to know the presence of God's awesome spirit "in" us!  amen.
