Good Vibrations Trina L.C.

Being the luckiest woman alive is no small matter.
There are plenty of women out there who have more tangible possessions than I,
more education, or higher position; but are they grateful for it? Or, do they
take it for granted? Have the trappings of their lives trapped them into
complacency?
I am grateful for all that I have and have learned to take
nothing for granted. I have come to appreciate everything in my life, good or
bad. In fact, some of the bad has brought me more good. I'll expand on that in a
moment, but first I'd like to say this: Success is not measured by what you
have, but rather what you give. What matters is not how much you are loved by
others, what matters is how much love you give to others. Everything you give
returns to you multiplied. Think of this... When you smile at someone, don't
they usually smile back?
Now, on to the bad bringing forth good...
Recently, I've been going through some personal challenges that have had
plenty of negative affects; however, those challenges also brought to me a great
deal of wonderful experiences as well. I reached out for help and received so
very much. I'm not talking dollars and cents here, but love and kindness. I've
met some awesome people who have showered me with encouragement and support. I
have made many new friendships as a result of my hardships; therefore I am
grateful for the challenges.
In going through the experience of almost
losing everything, I learned to appreciate what I have. All of what I have. I
sat down and began writing a gratitude list each morning, to take inventory of
what I have, without thinking about what I do not have. As the list grew, I felt
a little foolish for feeling sorry for myself for things like, the fact that my
husband drives a 30 year old truck, or having to share a single bathroom with
three other people. I am happy to have that single bathroom, and would gladly
shared it with the whole town if necessary. I am happy to have that old work
horse of a truck (it's paid for). I am grateful for the warm bed I sleep in and
the man I wake up with each day. I am grateful that my eyes open every morning.
I have also had to remind myself that there are many who would love to
trade places with me; those who have less than I.
I am the luckiest
woman alive and that is an accomplishment to be proud of. I didn't get here on
my own, but damn it! I'm here. And I love each and every person who has touched
my life in any way, no matter how great or small.
