I'm sorry if it's politically incorrect! Merry Christmas to all my friends!
12/12/2008 11:31:40 AM
Dear Friends!

You know it's become a bit of a pain for me that people are so afraid to offend others that it's now uncomfortable for people to openly say Merry Christmas! to others.

We get all kinds of variations, from "Seasons Greetings", to "Happy Holidays".

Well I'm sorry folks. I grew up with "Merry Christmas", and it's what I am proud to say to others this time of year.

It means something to me.

I suppose if some are offended I might be apologetic, but on the other hand I'm offended (well mildly so perhaps) with something less than Merry Christmas.

When I say Merry Christmas I'm not foisting my spiritual views on you, and your response is not dictated by my words. I'm saying it because it means something to me.
That's it.

So I've created this forum for everyone who misses the "Good Old Days" of wishing everyone a

!!!!!MERRY CHRISTMAS
!!!!!

You're all welcome to do it here! :-)

Hello Tim.

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to you too.
I agree with you.

Merry Christmas had not been taken out of New Zealand when
I left in 2001 and I did not really notice whether people were not
greeting others or that it was politically incorrect or almost illegal
to say it until I started work at University of Oregon in Nov 2004.
I worked there two Christmas's 2004 as I was not working on
campus but at the apartments I did not have much interaction with
students, so it was not apparent to me that year.

In Christmas 2005 I was working at Campus in the Dorms and I
noticeably saw and heard "happy holidays' and learned that we were not suppose to wish anyone a Merry Christmas. As it was a public State school of various religions and beliefs.

I must admit, my dander went up and I felt my 'freedom of speech'
and 'freedom of religion' was being violated so I made the decision
I was not going to conform and wished co-workers, staff and students a Merry Christmas.  If I was fired, so be it, I would make a 'big stink' and raise a ruckus.  Fortunately no one said anything and
I resigned in mid December as James and I were relocating to Wyoming in January.
