AN ART INSTRUCTOR TOLD THEIR ART CLASS, " I AM ABOUT TO SHOW YOU MY NEWEST CREATION. IT IS TITLED, A COW EATING GRASS. " THE INSTRUCTOR TURNED TO HIS LEFT AND REMOVED THE WHITE COTTON SHEET COVERING THE EASEL NEXT TO THEM.
UNDER THE SHEET WAS A 24X36 INCH ALL WHITE CANVAS. THERE WERE NO IMAGES ON THE CANVAS.; IT APPEARED TO BE BLANK.
" I DON'T UNDERSTAND, " SAID ONE OF THE STUDENTS. " WHERE IS THE GRASS ?
" THE COW ATE IT, " CAME THE REPLY.
" THEN WHERE IS THE COW " WAS THE NEXT QUESTION ?
" THE COW LEFT SINCE THERE WAS NO MORE GRASS TO EAT, " OFFERED THE ART INSTRUCTOR.
ANOTHER STUDENT ASKED, " WHAT ABOUT THE SKY, MOUNTAINS IN THE BACKGROUND, BIRDS FLYING OVER HEAD, SUNLIGHT REFLECTIONS AND A FEW CLOUDS; A STREAM. "
THE ART INSTRUCTOR TOOK A SMALL PAINT BRUSH IN HAND, DIPPED IT IN BLUE PAINT AND SIGNED THE CANVAS, ANSWERING THE QUESTION AS HE PLACED HIS SIGNATURE ON HIS ART WORK.
" IT'S TITLED COW EATING GRASS. NOT COW EATING GRASS WITH SKY ABOVE, MOUNTAINS IN THE BACKGROUND, BIRDS FLYING OVER HEAD, SUNLIGHT REFLECTIONS AND A FEW CLOUDS AND STREAM. HOWEVER, IF THAT IS WHAT YOU WISH TO CREATE, BY ALL MEANS, I WOULD SUGGEST YOU DO SO .IT IS ALL IN HOW YOU PERCEIVE THE WORLD AROUND YOU AND IN HOW YOU DESIRE TO PRESENT IT TO OTHERS. IN ART, CREATE WHAT YOU DESIRE FOR YOUR OWN SATISFACTION, NOT FOR OTHERS. . IF THEY ENJOY IT AND EMBRACE IT, YOU HAVE MADE A FRIEND AND POSSIBLY ONE WHO WILL INVEST IN YOUR CREATIONS. IF THEY DO NOT ENJOY OR UNDERSTAND WHAT YOU CREATE, YOU HAVE ALSO SUCCEEDED IN CREATING A CRITIC."
To your continued success,
