Thankful for the Cross
By Rev. Dean Beaty 11/13/08
I'm thankful for the cross of Christ
Where all my sins were paid.
I'm thankful for the empty tomb
Where once my Savior laid.
I'm thankful for the roman nails
That held Him to the tree.
I'm thankful for the crown of thorns
He wore that day for me.
I'm thankful for the blood stained cross
Whereupon He died.
For on that cross, sin's debt was paid
And God was satisfied.
I'm thankful for His willingness
To take my place that day.
For there He paid the bitter price
I had no way to pay.
I'm thankful for His nail pierced feet
That walked through Galilee.
They took Him to the sick and lame
And the blind He made to see.
I'm thankful for His spear pierced side
Where blood flowed to the ground.
His death for me became the chords
With which in love I'm bound.
I'm thankful for His dying words
Which to the thief were made.
"With Me you'll be in Paradise."”
For his debt too was paid.
I'm thankful for the rugged cross
Where all these things took place.
Because of them, through God's great love,
Someday I'll see Christ's face.
Thank you God, for Jesus Christ,
Who died upon that tree.
That my sins were paid in full
So I might live with Thee.
