THE FOOLISH WISE MAN
By Rev. Dean Beaty 10/23/08
Don’t let me be like Solomon who wasted many years.
Whose life was filled with excess and ended up in tears.
He started out in wisdom but then went his own way.
He learned too late the lesson; that self love does not pay.
Women, his by thousands and they led him from the Lord.
He lavished his indulgence in that which he adored.
He built for them rich temples to worship idols there.
His love for God soon faded but he was not aware.
With wisdom he was foolish and a double minded man
When torn in two directions no one can ever stand.
His kingdom too divided just like his wasted mind.
His son, worse than his father, hastened its decline.
There was great potential in Solomon the king.
But uncontrolled indulgence will ruin most anything.
Self love is like a cancer destroying its own host.
Examine your own heart. Who do you love the most?
