A Promise for Troubling Times
10/17/2008 4:41:34 PM

In these troubling times of economic uncertainty, it is good to know that God is always with us.

"But now thus says the LORD, who created you, O Jacob, he who formed you, O Israel:  'Fear not, for I have redeemed you; I have called you by name, you are mine.  When you pass through the waters I will be with you; and through the rivers, they shall not overwhelm you; when you walk through fire you shall not be burned, and the flame shall not consume you'"  (Isaiah 43:1,2  RSV).

Hope you all have a blessed week-end.

You bet, Duane, it is good to know God is with us during these times.

I've been reading through

Matthew 24

and I think we may be right there at about this point in history.

What do you think?

Hello Gene,

I agree we are quickly approaching the time in history that Jesus was talking about in Matthew 24.

Jesus said, "Now learn the parable of the fig tree; When his branch is yet tender, and putteth forth leaves, ye know that summer is nigh:  So likewise ye, when ye shall see all these things, know that it is near, even at the doors" (Matthew 24:32, 33 KJV emphasis supplied).

Here is another interresting point.  In Revelation 13:11-17 the apostle John describes a beast (world power) that will cause all the world to worship the first beast (described in verses 1-16) whose deadly wound was healed.  It will cause "...all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and bond, to recieve a mark in their right hand, or in their foreheads; And that no man might buy or sell, save he that had the mark, or the number of his name" (Rev. 13:16-17 KJV emphasis supplied).

This prophecy is being fulfilled even as we speak.  In the last two weeks the leading economic nations of the world have nationalized or are in the process of nationalizing their banking systems.  They have escentially set the stage for dictating who can by or sell.  (For a free, more in depth study of Bible Prophecy go to BibleUniverse.com.)

Yes Gene, I believe that the time of Christ's return is "even at the door."  Now more than ever we must turn our focus onto Christ.  Only those who have made Christ their refuge will be able to endure to the end and be saved.

Have a great day.
