A Foolish Dream
By Rev. Dean Beaty 9/29/08
Let me pose to you a riddle. The answer we must know.
From whence did I come and to where then will I go?
If I came from an ameba, then to dust I will return.
Seeing there’s no God then there’s no chance I will burn.
But if from God’s creation He placed me on this earth.
Then also in His eyes I have tremendous worth.
Then it’s wrong to take a life, whether in the womb or out.
If God created life, then of this there is no doubt.
Evolution says, “No God, I can live life as I choose.”
“No God to answer to, this way I can’t loose.”
But loose, my friend they will, for they think they are supreme.
They believe the devil’s lie within this foolish dream.
Just stop and look around. Can order come from chance?
Can chaos make a clock? Do monkeys come from plants?
Did one ameba trip and get buried in the earth?
And from this accident a mighty oak gave birth?
So many missing links and answers they can’t give.
But God came down to earth just so we might live.
We’re precious in His sight, so very much you see.
To fully know God’s love will take eternity.
So my riddle, friend is this. Where did I come from?
We both cannot be right. Therefore one of us is dumb.
I’ll stand on God’s side. From Him it all took shape
This leaves Darwin in the dark and related to an ape.
