My Serene Place
by: Beverly G. Kersey
This is the place where I stand and dream
when my spirit is troubled.
The cool green grass and the bend in the
white river, where the birds feed in the
shallow waters.
Though I'm a thousand miles away,
I see it in my mind.
My serene place, where my sanctity is
unviolated.
My home where after a trying day,
I can relax.
I love to escape to my spot,
and walk alone, down the hill to the water.
I've been away from my spot too long.
Too many times in haste I passed it by.
Now I long for home.
And only time will return me to the water.
And I will lay me down by the river.
The white and winding river.
