My Life’s True Story
Ephesians 1:4, 5 Romans 8:16, 17

This is a true story and such a sad tale.
I was a pauper and headed for jail.
The only family I ever had,
Taught me to steal, that was my dad.
He was a murderer,* wanted by the law.
He taught me to lie, that was my pa.
When I broke the law, I had no shame.
Pleasure for self, that was my aim.
We were a pair, my father and I.
I thought we were rich but that was a lie.
We really were broke most of the time.
Wasn’t that great, this life of crime?
Then something happened when I was ‘bout ten.
I had a chance to start over again.
I was adopted by a great king.
Now I was an heir of every thing.
He made me his child and gave me his name.
All gone was the past with all of its shame.
I was set free, I wouldn’t do time.
His eldest son paid for my crime.
Joint heir with him, Jesus’ his name.
On all that is his, I have a claim.
I’ve been adopted, my father is God.
He gave me a new life for one that was flawed.
Ephesians 1:4, 5 “According as He hath chosen us in Him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy (separated unto God) and without blame before Him in love: having predestinated us unto the adoption of children by Jesus Christ to himself, according to His good pleasure.”
Romans 8:16, 17 “The Spirit himself beareth witness with our spirit, that we
are the children of God: and if children, then heirs: heirs of God, and joint heirs
with Jesus Christ.”
*John 8:44 “Ye are of your father, the devil, and the lusts of your father
ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth,
because there is not truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of
his own: for he is a liar and the father of it.”
