HOW  GREAT  A  LOVE?

How great a love do you think it would take,

For the great sacrifice that Christ was to make?

To leave His home and His Father’s great throne,

To come down to earth and die all alone.

Not just to die, as at the end of one’s life.

But in baring our sins, such as murder and strife.

He who was sinless, holy and pure,

Oh, the indignity of the cross to endure.

Rejected by the ones to whom Jesus came.

Hearing them mock and scorn His blessed name.

Forsaken by all but just one of His men,

Hanging in shame, as He paid for our sin.

How great a love do you think that it took?

It’s all written down in one blessed book.

No greater love could anyone give,

Than to lay down His life, that another might live.
