Will You Hear God and Obey?
Luke 1:38
By Rev Dean Beaty 8/18/08
Gabriel spoke to Mary of things that were unheard.
A birth without a husband, most would say absurd.
But Mary gave her answer with confidence assured.
Saying, “Be it unto me, according to thy word.”
Her faith and trust in God is a tribute to her name.
If only ours was thus and pleased the Lord the same.
Many tasks are left undone, our sacrifice a shame.
Where is our love for God and His Lordship that we claim?
If Mary’s faith had faltered or her loyalties been torn,
From where would come our Savior? Would He have been born?
Her name would be derided in ridicule and scorn.
The World would be in darkness, in sin lost and forlorn.
So what about God’s bidding upon our life today?
Will we heed His calling or turn and walk away?
Are our feet shod with the gospel or are they made of clay?
If we carry out God’s calling we will hear Him Say:
Matthew 25:21 “Well done, thou good and faithful servant.”
