Bingo Thomas! You have put in this short message something we teach people every single day! Blogging is not a "system" where you can do once or twice a week, when you either feel like it , or remember. You have to give it lots of "loving", as in every day, (preferably!) It takes time as you have stated so well ( or your friend did) to build a readership , to develop the traffic one needs through a variety of ways. I will debate your one statement " Content is king? Not in the heavily saturated blogosphere. Whatever idea you have, however you choose to present it, someone, somewhere will do it as well or better."
To me this is like talking about marketing, there will always be someone, somewhere who will do it as well or better. The fact is that in marketing, we have what is the "old boys club" the very top percent who have it all sown up, we will get the crumbs and be little busy bee's who try to copy or echo what has been done before...are people going to give up? I don't think so...
There is no doubt that there are also "super" bloggers out there, but the beauty to blogging is that because it is such a different mind set, we can reach the world not on just one very narrow topic, but on so many that it is quite unbelievable. It is not hard to learn how to blog...we all have are thoughts, our passions and knowledge on so many things. Learning how to create words that will get you noticed, again is not hard...but yes work.
Many people look at creating a blog as a way to advertise, usually the same old thing all the time. Here is a fact. When you have visited a blog...if you see nothing but advertisement...would you stay? I know I wont! If you go to a blog and read a persons thoughts and feelings on lets say music..guitars..the history, the great people who have made them a legend...of course you will, simply because it has reached an interest in you. If you see images or videos..then of course you stay longer. Now lets say, that you don't agree with a statement about lets say, Jimmi Hendrix and his guitar, or conversly something that was of such value..then what are you going to do...you will say something, thus comments are formed, conversations are created, relationships are made and hey you might even go back and visit them again.. There in a nutshell is blogging and how to market..not with advertisements, but your CONTENT...keeping it interesting, fun, informative. Content is KING!
Lets take this mythical blog by the way and lets say you want to make an income...ok....We know that this blog is full of content, interesting, but that sure is not making you one red cent..so what to do? You know you have a readership, you know that people are getting to know you and your unique perspective..so what? Well I will tell you what....with music and guitars, there is so many things to SELL...not by advertising per say, but rather by telling about this very kewl um...guitar strings you found online..great price...here are to good points to it and maybe even some of the bad points..thats not the point, the fact is, you have talked to your readers about something you found, they trust you, so they click and buy...bingo..a sale! You could not have done that by the way without having CONTENT!
Thanks Thomas for letting me have some fun here talking about something that I really do love talking about...well one of the things...lol
I hope that you are well and having a good day.
To Your Success,
Diane
P.S. just for the fun of it I looked to see if there was any affiliate programs that had to do with music and guitars....lol...guess what? http://gc.guitarcenter.com/affiliate/ go figure...guess people can sell anything ..if they look beyond the same old same old thing...think of the market out there...wowowowo :-)
