Jenison is an unincorporated community located in Ottawa County, Michigan. It is a Census-designated place (CDP) used for statistical purposes. As of the 2000 census, the community had a total population of 17,211. The community is located within Georgetown Charter Township.
According to the United States Census Bureau, the community has a total area of 15.3 km2 (5.9 mi2). 15.2 km2 (5.8 mi2) of it is land and 0.1 km2 (0.1 mi2) of it is water. The total area is 0.85% water.
As of the census2 of 2000, there are 17,211 people, 5,975 households, and 4,863 families residing in the community. The population density is 1,135.9/km2 (2,940.8/mi2). There are 6,065 housing units at an average density of 400.3/km2 (1,036.3/mi2). The racial makeup of the community is 97.04% White, 0.49% African American, 0.21% Native American, 0.85% Asian, 0.01% Pacific Islander, 0.53% from other races, and 0.87% from two or more races. 1.77% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race. 
There are 5,975 households out of which 39.8% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 73.5% are married couples living together, 5.8% have a female householder with no husband present, and 18.6% are non-families. 16.9% of all households are made up of individuals and 10.1% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.86 and the average family size is 3.24.
In the community the population is spread out with 28.9% under the age of 18, 7.8% from 18 to 24, 26.8% from 25 to 44, 24.0% from 45 to 64, and 12.5% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 36 years. For every 100 females there are 93.5 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 90.5 males.
The median income for a household in the community is $56,426, and the median income for a family is $61,957. Males have a median income of $46,738 versus $28,204 for females. The per capita income for the community is $21,021. 2.5% of the population and 1.8% of families are below the poverty line. Out of the total population, 3.1% of those under the age of 18 and 4.3% of those 65 and older are living below the poverty line.
