Gas-Saving Products: Fact or Fuelishness?

Gas prices are up, and so is the volume of advertising for "gas-saving" products. When gasoline prices rise, consumers often look for ways to improve fuel efficiency. Although there are practical steps you can take to increase gas mileage, the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) warns you to be wary of any gas-saving claims for automotive devices or oil and gas additives. Even for the few gas-saving products that have been found to work, the savings have been small.

Interesting to read that not one of the fuel additives on the FTC evaluated list has been seen to save fuel!  Although some of the other products relating to engine maintenance hae shown some results - not one fuel additive is mentioned.  And so far there is not one product that I am aware of that has been endorsed by either the motor manufacturers or the engineering professional associations.

When there is a fuel additive that has been scientificaly proven to reduce fuel consumption and  not harm your car in any way  (and doesnt cost more than the saving on gas LOL) - we will hear about it!  You can be sure of that.  And it wont just be on the internet - it will have major international TV coverage.

And until such time, we will just have to find other ways to reduce our fuel consumption.
