It’s time again for one our favorite projects of the week and that is the Feature of The Week! It is one of our favorite projects because you folks and the POTW’s of the week make it a very special event. We are all so fortunate to be a part of this community that is made up of so many friendly and talented people.

Thank you so much for your support and for making this event so special.

The reason the Feature of the Week forum was created was to honor people who have a positive influence on this community.

To qualify the person has to be an active member
and one who contributes to the positive atmosphere here at AdlandPro. Here are the criteria for nominating a member for the Feature of the Week

(also referred to as the Person of the Week, POTW).

To be chosen as Person of the week you:

• Are highly visible on the community

• Are always seen as respectful, professional, and helpful.

• Must be nominated for the program by another member

of the Community and voted on by other members.

• Must have a real photo of themselves on their profile.

Here's Anneshirley Manion's Bio:

I am at present a very busy senior who lives in a senior village with my companion Rudy and our spoiled calico cat, Sally. We moved here five years ago and up until last year Rudy went golfing every day, but he has not been very well. I keep busy on my computer, swimming in the pool in our clubhouse or at the nearby beaches. At present I am helping with a seniors club to put on activities. There are always things to do here like Historical Meetings, suppers, etc.

Going back in time you would find me as an only child with not even one cousin. Most of my spare time was spent with my parents and they loved to go on little tours on weekends. I was extremely shy but managed to get over this and now people say I am outging.

When I was six we made our first move and I have moved about 25 times in my lifetime. We moved to five different houses that year, but then we stayed in Stratford, Ontario, Canada for the rest of my school years. It was during that time that the Stratford Shakespearean Festival began and is now world famous.

When I was about twenty my husband and our one year old son moved to Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. I worked for two years in the office of a diaper service and then stayed home for four years. We returned to Canada six years later. We moved to three different cities and ended up in a small town called St. Marys. This lasted for fifteen years and our second child arrived. My husband decided to call it quits and I was left with a 17 and nine year old to care for.

Five years later I met a man and moved to New Hamburg. He was a Real Estate agent and I went and got my license so I could help him. This was in 1981 when there was a terrible recession and interest rates here were 21% so it was not easy to sell houses and many people were losing them. We bought a house and a store at a good price in Pt. Burwell at Lake Erie thinking of it for summer. We ended up moving here because our Broker went bankrupt. All this happened in one year.
We ended up with a store, selling real estate, nine cottages, 13 rental units. This along with other things I won't go into lead to our separation.

In 1990 I met Rudy and we have been helping each other ever since. He lost his job of 30 years, his family was all in Croatia so he lost them in the conflict over there. He got a job in Stratford so had to move there. Meanwhile my Dad died and I became the sole support for my Mom. This meant traveling between Pt. Burwell and Stratford for ten years. When she passed away Rudy and I decided to move to Long Point where we are now.
