Having been in the network marketing industry for over 25 years and having built some of the largest, fastest growing, and most successful groups (my 2 partners and I had comnbined groups of over 600,000 distributors and sales of more than $2 billion in our previous companies), and having a consulting business with one of my associates being a prominent former Attorney General, I think I am somewhat of an expert on our industry as well a student of history of our industry.
I am absolutely amazed at all the "goofy" programs that people get involved with. Folks, matrix plan's don't work! When will you ever learn? Only 1 company in 50 years has had any substantial long term success and even that company has changed their plan numerous times in the past 10 years in order to keep leaders from leaving. No experienced and successful network marketer would work a matrix plan!
Second, all these programs some of you are promoting where you can make money for doing absolutely nothing, well guess what? Those programs are illegal! It's an illegal program if you can make money for doing nothing more than signing up! (Regulators like to see distributors having to sponsor a few people and sell product to non-business participants, conduct some type of supervisory role such as conducting conference calls, doing trainings, etc. as a justification to earn commissions and bonues.
It's an illegal program if you can make money for doing nothing more than recruiting! It's an illegal program if you are getting paid and there is no legitimate retailing taking place (and regulators don't count the purchases of distributors as retail sales. They want to see sales taking place to NON BUSINESS PARTICIPANTS!) If the vast majority of the commissions and bonuses is being paid on money that comes primarily from the business building packages purchased by distributors, you have an illegal program! (Regulators like to see at least a 3 to 1 customer to distributor ratio and a significant portion of the company's revenue coming from sales made to NON BUSINESS PARTICIPANTS.)
If you're involved with a company that claims they are global and they've just opened up or they’re only a few years old, I can guarantee you that you're in a company that has not done the registration and legal work needed to promote their opportunity in 200 countries around the world, and the fact that they haven't means they would be considered an illegal pyramid in any country where they haven't done such registration, especially if their program contains any of the points raised earlier, AND IT DOES NOT MATTER WHERE THE COMPANY IS LOCATED or that they are internet based. If you are recruiting people in a country, taking their money, and sending commissions to people in that country, then you are operating as a network marketing opportunity in that country, regardless of where your company is located. It doesn't matter if that's the Rock of Gibraltar or the moon!
I can hear it now. "But our company has been in business for 3 years, or 5 years, or 7 years." All that means is that they aren't big enough yet to have attracted attention on a regulator's radar screen. It certainly doesn't mean that they company is operating legally just because they've been around for a couple of years.
Third, your objective in any opportunity should be to put the odds of success in your favor, not try to beat the odds! So, what do you do? You jump on brand new deal after brand new deal, knowing that 99 out of 100 programs that launch will not be here 2 years from now. Are you crazy???
Finally, most of the Internet deals are here today and gone tomorrow programs, AGLOCO being a prime example. Once people come out of the "ether" after inhaling all the hype, they realize that most consumers are not going to spend money on something they are used to getting for FREE, and once the recruiting slows down significantly, the program is in trouble, and this is further compounded by the fact that a new program with a similar concept launches every day now, so once the hype wears off on one deal, the networkers move on to the next new thing...For most people, it is one big merry go round ride..It's no wonder to us why 97% of people fail...
