Treatment for Irritable Syndrome (IBS)
3/18/2007 10:54:13 PM

Treatment for Irritable Bowel Syndrome

depends upon the person's symptoms.

For some, certain foods may trigger their

symptoms. It is helpful to keep a food

diary so you can determine whether

particular foods trigger your symptoms.

Some suggestions of problematic foods to

 limit or avoid are:

  1. Caffeine
  2. Fatty foods
  3. Dairy products
  4. Fruit
  5. Sorbitol (artificial sweetener)
  6. Beans
  7. Cabbage
  8. Raw cauliflower
  9. Raw broccoli

Other suggestions to try:

Increase fiber intake. You may have

to experiment with different types of

fiber for best results.

Drink at least 8 glasses of water daily.

Exercise regularly.

Try to practice relaxation techniques.

You may need to learn about stress

management to help relieve your symptoms.

Try loperamide if you have irritable bowel

syndrome with mainly diarrhea.

Try Zelnorm (tegaserod) if you have mostly

constipation.

Try antianxiety medication such as Paxil.

Quit smoking if you are a smoker.

Eat slowly and in a relaxed atmosphere.

Limit the amount of liquids you drink while

eating. It is better to get your liquids

between meals so you don't dilute your

stomach acid.

Try some of these suggestions to determine

whether they help your irritable bowel

syndrome. Keep the treatments that seem

to help you the most. You will need to

experiment as we are all individuals with

different symptoms and needs.

While I am not a doctor I do have crohns and Ibs.

I would love to say that the article above is accurate except in my own personal experience eliminating wheat and milk and soda, have been huge for me.

I can eat anything I want as long as I don't put those three in my body.

Absorption is a challenge for all of us and I have done heavy megadosing of supplementation and while this did work a little, I found a much better way to get the nutrition I needed.

Please feel free to send me a message and I'll tell you about it.

Doing an elimination diet will be key to finding what your trigger foods are and eliminating those for now and doing supplementation like Cell Activator and Florafiber to rebuild and repair your intestine to be able to eat what you want going forward.

Hi Leann,

Thanks for sharing your experiences with Crohns and IBS. I also have lactose intolerance so avoid most dairy products. Occasionally I indulge in ice cream and sometimes suffer the negative symptoms caused by it. I do not know if I have any wheat allergies. I rarely drink soda, preferring ice tea, mostly what I make myself (sun tea).

Feel free to share your information on cell activator and florafiber. I haven't heard of them.

Re: Treatment for Irritable Syndrome (IBS) Happy Villi vs Sad Villi

Cell Activator is a product that repairs the villi in your intestine.

Villi are hair like fingers in your intestine that "grab" on to the food particles and absorb the nutrition.

Normally the villi our outreaching and open to absorb. Make your hand like a high five and outstretch your fingers and wiggle them. This is happy villi.

Overtime we collect junk in our intestine through the foods, and stuff we put in our body. This can damage or depress the villi. Hense malabsorption. Make fist now. "Sad villi" LOL Basically I was malnourished and FAT.

What Cell Activator does is scrub and clean out the villi and then they become "happy" again. So to speak where can absorb.

When this happens not only can your body absorb the nutrients it needs for energy but the balancing of the body systems begins to happen.

The florafiber begins to grow the good bacteria that we need or the intestinal flora and help promote intestinal health with fiber and "friendly" bacteria.

Thus repair & replenish for optimal absorption. Which leads to all kinds of nutritional deficiency and illness disappearing.

It all starts in your gut or tummy!

You can find both of those products on my page. I am a Personal Wellness Coach because I have had the great fortune to heal myself and spread that knowledge and same kind of success to others. I got rid of EVERYONE of my doctors and no medications. WOOHOO

Take care.

Thanks for the information Leann. The products sound amazing. I will check out your page. My IBS has been a major problem for lots of years now. I found a fiber called Acacia that has helped quite a bit. I have been taking it for several months with good results. I am always open to trying new things that may help.
