One of my favorite meals: corn bread, (real) butter, black eyed peas, and turnip greens.  This is the basic list.  Chopped-up (wheels) of okra liven up the black eyed peas.  Fresh, finely chopped onion should be on the table to add to the b.e. peas.  The turnip greens should have chopped-up turnip roots in them.

No sweet iced tea for me.  I will add my own sweetner to each glass.

Of course, one needs to differentiate between peas.  English peas are the round, green ones; black-eyed peas (aka cow peas) are the other kind.

If it was not so close to when I ate supper (aka dinner), my mouth would be watering.

Geketa,

Where were you when I moved from SW Kansas to NC Missouri!

I never heard a mess for supper, I thought they were referring to the kitchen aftermath!

  Thanks for the language instruction!

Blessings
