Here are a couple of links about the second dam, # 1 Tellico Dam. You'll find photos of both, Ft Loudon and Tellico Dams at this first link and here at the #2 Link you'll learn the history of Tellico Dam and the snail darter.

Even though I now live almost 800 miles away, Lenoir City, where I spent most of my life and Oak Ridge, where I was living when I moved here, have some unique places. Lenoir City is the home to two dams, and that is one of the reasons it is becoming known as the twin lakes region. Oak Ridge also has an a very rich history and is in Anderson County adjoining Loudon County, home of Lenoir City. Here are a couple of videos I hope you enjoy.

Oak Ridge Atomic Energy Facilities, American Museum of Science and Energy, and TVA's Fort Loudoun Dam.
E.O. Lawrence's calutrons separated the isotopes that made the first Atomic bomb possible. However, his methods caused some excitement at the Y-12 plant in Oak Ridge, Tennessee.

I could identify with Tim Conway having a difficult time composing himself.
There has been times when I have tried to tell James a story or joke and as I try to tell him I start laughing, then the harder I try to stop I laugh even harder then James gets into the act and either starts laughing because I am or looks at me funny which sets me off into peals of more laughter - my stomach hurts and it is 10 minutes or more before I can get myself back under control to finish the story..LOL

Hi Myrna, wasn't the Carol Burnette show a wonderful show? And it was people like Tim Conway and Harvey Korman that helped make it such a great and funny show. So many hilarious scenes and yet never vulgar or x rated language and even the kids could watch. When the networks lowered their standards to permit anything goes, we all lost big time.

Helen, you're a very funny lady and I always enjoy your posts very much. Yes, it will take some time to watch all 8 of these but I'm sure they'll be very interesting and well worth the time to do so. :)

Hello Everyone

Have you heard of the 5 love languages? Gary Chapman is a marriage counselor and author of several books on this very subject.

Love languages is not just for man and woman relationships but also for relationships that involve your children, your parents, your co-workers, your students, your boss and your dog. Ok, maybe not your dog. :)) We all know what a dog's love language is. Wouldn't it be neat if your husband had a love language like that. You scratch him on his head or behind his ears, give him a little treat sometimes, put some food out a can (without heating it even) in his dish, and take him for short 10 minute walk. There would be nothing he wouldn't do for you. He'd even let you do all the talking.

Since that is not likely to happen, Gary Chapman talks about the five love languages in a radio interview in this series of 8 videos. Just watch one or two as you have time.

I also recommend that you go to his website and subscribe to his newsletter. He doesn't send a lot, not even every day. I think it is once a week or so. I haven't read his book yet but even so I get a lot out of his newsletters and/or website.

Helen

Isn't it strange Amanda, how just by watching someone laugh, we either laugh with them or get a big wide grin on our face? And have you ever gotten your giggle box turned up side down when you were some place you shouldn't be laughing, like at church or even a funeral home. I've often wondered why some things are so funny when we're some place we should not laugh. LOL
