BERLIN (Reuters) – Two Berlin police officers were pelted by snowballs thrown by a group of about 40 youths but were able to fight them off with pepper spray, police said on Sunday.

The officers were investigating a brawl early Saturday morning. They ignored demands from a group of about 25 youths to leave and were then attacked by snowballs. The number of youths throwing snowballs quickly grew to 40.

The officers first retreated but then fought back with the pepper spray, prompting the youths to flee. Many were later arrested. There were no injuries, police said.

LINCOLN HEIGHTS, Ohio - A police officer from Lincoln Heights was allegedly assaulted by several people during a melee on the front porch of a home Tuesday night.

Ultimately, it took a taser and pepper spray to get it all under control, police say.

The fight happened Tuesday night in the 1100 block of Vanburen Avenue. As of Wednesday morning, it appears the only person charged in connection to the incident is Gary Brown. Brown has a listed address next door to the home where the incident took place.

Police say several people grabbed the officer, even laying on top of him at one point during the fight. A taser had to be used at least twice and pepper spray was used once, according to police.

Michigan: Mt. Pleasant Hotel Clerk Uses Pepper Spray on Would-Be Robber

Posted: 1/5/2011

An Isabella County hotel clerk leaned on her pepper spray during an attack by a would-be robber.

It happened early Tuesday morning at the Super Eight hotel in Mt. Pleasant.

Police say Christopher Campbell went there to use a computer then walked up to an employee and shoved her against a refrigerator.

They say when Campbell raised his hand to hit her, she sprayed him with pepper spray and he took off.

Officers followed his tracks in the snow right to his house.

Police say Campbell later confessed.

If convicted, he could spend 15 years in prison.
