NASRALLAH: ALL OF ISRAEL WILL BE STRUCK BY HEZBOLLAH ROCKETS

The secretary general of Hezbollah spoke Saturday night for the first time since November.

Hezbollah could 'for years' enter Israel, Nasrallah says after tunnels found, January 27, 2019 (Reuters)

“We call on [Prime Minister Benjamin] Netanyahu and the new chief of staff to not make mistakes in their assessments. They’ll regret it,” said Hassan Nasrallah, the secretary-general of the Lebanese political and paramilitary party Hezbollah.

“The price of aggression will be greater than they estimate,” said Nasrallah, speaking on Saturday night for the first time since the beginning of November.

“Any Israeli aggression, whether it is war or the assassination of Hezbollah fighters in Lebanon or Syria, we will respond to it.

Any attack or aggression is, in our view, a declaration of war.”

In an interview with the Lebanese Al-Mayadeen station, Nasrallah said that the tunnels in the North, which Israel targeted during its recent Operation Northern Shield, had existed for years and Israeli intelligence had not succeeded in uncovering them.

Nasrallah denied that he had not spoken up publicly for so long due to his poor health.

“All that is published are lies, which are disconnected from reality,” he said. “My heart, my head and my body are in good shape.” Nasrallah said that he chooses to speak “when there’s something to talk about.”

He said that he could have spoken up in the first few days of Operation Northern Shield, but that he left the propaganda campaign for Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and then-chief of staff Gadi Eisenkot.

“I did not want to help them with their campaign,” Nasrallah said. He noted that “even though they announced that Operation Northern Shield had ended, they continued until yesterday to search for tunnels, and Eisenkot took credit for an operation that has not yet ended.” He said he did not want to admit that Hezbollah dug the tunnels.

“Israel claims that Hezbollah dug them, and I do say there are tunnels in southern Lebanon, and they were exposed, but they were dug before the Lebanon War,” Nasrallah claimed. “It took Israelis a long time to expose them.”

He said Israeli intelligence failed for 14 years to expose these tunnels. “One of the tunnels discovered recently is 13 or 14 years old,” he said, “and was located entirely in Israeli territory, meaning all of Israel’s technology and capabilities failed to detect this tunnel.”

“I confirm that some of these tunnels are older than United National Security Council Resolution 1701,” he continued, noting that he would not confirm or deny whether or not all of the tunnels in northern Israel had been discovered. “My question to the settlers is how do they know that Netanyahu and their other leaders are correct when they say that all the tunnels have been destroyed?” Nasrallah excused Netanyahu for his ignorance – “Netanyahu is not a general” – but said Eisenkot should have been able to think militarily.

“Is it logical that Hezbollah would enter the Galilee with thousands of fighters through four tunnels?” Nasrallah said mockingly. “I do not know whether we will attack the Galilee by sea, air, land or tunnels.

All of Netanyahu’s goals failed, and he also helped us in the realm of psychological warfare. Netanyahu’s only achievement was to expose four tunnels. Eisenkot’s only achievement is an illusion.”

He continued, “I admit the enemy’s generals are smart, but sometimes their personal interests overcome their intelligence.”

Nasrallah said Hezbollah is taking all necessary measures to protect Lebanon in the face of threats by Israel.

He said that the terrorist organization has had the ability to conquer the Galilee for years.

“After our experience in Syria, entering the Galilee will be easier,” he said. “Even the fences Israel has set up – we have a solution for them.” He said it is in the organization’s war plan to invade the Galilee, but when and how will depend on Israel.

“If Israel attacks Lebanon, they will regret it,” he said.

“Our response will be one they never expected.” Nasrallah strongly attacked Netanyahu, claiming his impending indictment for corruption is leading the prime minister to falsely present himself as a hero. He accused Netanyahu of using the success of Operation Northern Shield to improve his situation in the courts.

“He is ready to sacrifice anything to remain prime minister and out of prison,” Nasrallah said. “We warn Israelis that this man, Netanyahu, could carry out many miscalculations between now and Election Day in order to save himself.” The interviewer asked why Nasrallah thinks Netanyahu chose to openly admit Israel’s recent attacks on Syria.

“Israel has failed intelligence in Syria,” the secretary-general said. “We must expect such an ill-advised move on the part of Netanyahu on the eve of the elections.”

Nasrallah added that he did not foresee Israel making a mistake with regard to Lebanon, but more likely with Syria or Gaza. He said a miscalculation in Gaza could push the people in the Strip too far.

“Gaza will not tolerate continued aggression,” he said.

“You saw what happened when one rocket from Gaza hit Ashkelon. Imagine if rockets started falling on Tel Aviv.

In a future war, all of occupied Palestine will be struck by our rockets.”

Nasrallah also spoke about US withdrawal from Syria and said US President Donald Trump’s decision led to a conflict between US allies and the Turkish army. However, he noted that Trump is a stronger president that former president Barack Obama.

“Obama spoke about human rights and Trump talks about American interests only,” he said.

The digital drug: Internet addiction spawns US treatment programmes

Tuesday, 29 Jan 2019

At first, Reagan's parents took him to doctors and made him sign contracts pledging to limit his Internet use. Nothing worked. — Reuters

When Danny Reagan was 13, he began exhibiting signs of what doctors usually associate with drug addiction. He became agitated, secretive and withdrew from friends. He had quit baseball and Boy Scouts, and he stopped doing homework and showering.

But he was not using drugs. He was hooked on YouTube and videogames, to the point where he could do nothing else. As doctors would confirm, he was addicted to his electronics.

"After I got my console, I kind of fell in love with it," Reagan, now 16 and a junior in a Cincinnati high school, said. "I liked being able to kind of shut everything out and just relax."

Reagan was different from typical plugged-in American teenagers. Psychiatrists say Internet addiction, characterised by a loss of control over Internet use and disregard for the consequences of it, affects up to 8% of Americans and is becoming more common around the world.

"We're all mildly addicted. I think that's obvious to see in our behaviour," said psychiatrist Kimberly Young, who has led the field of research since founding the Center for Internet Addiction in 1995. "It becomes a public health concern obviously as health is influenced by the behaviour."

Psychiatrists such as Young who have studied compulsive Internet behaviour for decades are now seeing more cases, prompting a wave of new treatment programmes to open across the United States. Mental health centres in Florida, New Hampshire, Pennsylvania and other states are adding inpatient Internet addiction treatment to their line of services.

Some sceptics view Internet addiction as a false condition, contrived by teenagers who refuse to put away their smartphones, and the Reagans say they have had trouble explaining it to extended family.

Anthony Bean, a psychologist and author of a clinician's guide to videogame therapy, said that excessive gaming and Internet use might indicate other mental illnesses but should not be labelled independent disorders.

"It's kind of like pathologising a behaviour without actually understanding what's going on," he said.

Reboot

At first, Reagan's parents took him to doctors and made him sign contracts pledging to limit his Internet use. Nothing worked, until they discovered a pioneering residential therapy centre in Mason, Ohio, about 35km south of Cincinnati.

The "Reboot" programme at the Lindner Center for Hope offers inpatient treatment for 11 to 17-year-olds who, like Reagan, have addictions including online gaming, gambling, social media, pornography and sexting, often to escape from symptoms of mental illnesses such as depression and anxiety.

Reagan was diagnosed with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder at age five and Anxiety Disorder at six, and doctors said he developed an Internet addiction to cope with those disorders.

"Reboot" patients spend 28 days at a suburban facility equipped with 16 bedrooms, classrooms, a gym and a dining hall. They undergo diagnostic tests, psychotherapy, and learn to moderate their Internet use.

Chris Tuell, clinical director of addiction services, started the programme in December after seeing several cases, including Reagan's, where young people were using the Internet to "self-medicate" instead of drugs and alcohol.

The Internet, while not officially recognised as an addictive substance, similarly hijacks the brain's reward system by triggering the release of pleasure-inducing chemicals and is accessible from an early age, Tuell said.

"The brain really doesn't care what it is, whether I pour it down my throat or put it in my nose or see it with my eyes or do it with my hands," Tuell said. "A lot of the same neurochemicals in the brain are occurring."

Even so, recovering from Internet addiction is different from other addictions because it is not about "getting sober," Tuell said. The Internet has become inevitable and essential in schools, at home and in the workplace.

"It's always there," Reagan said, pulling out his smartphone. "I feel it in my pocket. But I'm better at ignoring it."

Is it a real disorder?

Medical experts have begun taking Internet addiction more seriously.

Neither the World Health Organisation (WHO) nor the American Psychiatric Association recognise Internet addiction as a disorder. Last year, however, the WHO recognised the more specific Gaming Disorder following years of research in China, South Korea and Taiwan, where doctors have called it a public health crisis.

Some online games and console manufacturers have advised gamers against playing to excess. YouTube has created a time monitoring tool to nudge viewers to take breaks from their screens as part of its parent company Google's "digital wellbeing" initiative.

WHO spokesman Tarik Jasarevic said Internet addiction is the subject of "intensive research" and consideration for future classification. The American Psychiatric Association has labelled gaming disorder a "condition for further study."

"Whether it's classified or not, people are presenting with these problems," Tuell said.

Tuell recalled one person whose addiction was so severe that the patient would defecate on himself rather than leave his electronics to use the bathroom.

Research on Internet addiction may soon produce empirical results to meet medical classification standards, Tuell said, as psychologists have found evidence of a brain adaptation in teens who compulsively play games and use the Internet.

"It's not a choice, it's an actual disorder and a disease," said Reagan. "People who joke about it not being serious enough to be super official, it hurts me personally." – Reuters

US production of new nuke warhead increases risk of nuclear war – Russian FM

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov has accused the US of bringing a nuclear conflict closer after the Trump administration ordered the production of a new nuclear warhead, the W76-2.

The country’s top diplomat reminded journalists that Moscow voiced its concern last year that the production of small-capacity nuclear weapons “lowers the threshold of nuclear weapons use and, of course, boosts the risk of a nuclear conflict.”

“Apparently, these plans were put into practice,” Lavrov said. “Certainly, it won’t contribute to global security.”

Russia will now await Europe’s reaction to the US move to begin production of the new weapon.

The warhead, known as the W76-2, is being produced at the National Nuclear Security Administration’s Pantex Plant in the Texas Panhandle, according to the National Nuclear Security Agency. The US Navy is expected to receive the first batch of new warheads in September.

‘Shameful and Demonic’: Carl Lentz Finally Speaks Out Against New NY Abortion Law

This past week, the New York Senate passed a bill, later signed into law by Gov. Andrew Cuomo (D), that allows women to abort their unborn babies up to birth.

The passing of the Reproductive Health Act prompted an uprising among the pro-life community, while the pro-choice camp cheered it as a victory. Christian leaders, as well as Christian worship artists, took to social media to denounce Tuesday’s decision, which coincided with the 46th anniversary of Roe v. Wade.

‘It Is a Horror’ Christian Artists Take to Instagram to Voice Outrage Over New York Abortion Law

While many voiced their outrage immediately, Pastor Carl Lentz of Hillsong NYC waited until Saturday night.

Lentz shared an old photo to Instagram of him and his three children, Ava, Roman and Charlie, writing, “I found this old photo recently, and I remember it taking me years to process that these LITTLE PEOPLE, had come into our world!”

“A miracle, without a doubt,” he added.
