“Oh Love That Wilt Not Let me Go”
8/2/2009 3:37:49 PM
www.youtube.com/watch?v=x_ojoO-gfSg George Metheson was the oldest child of 8, he graduated from the University of Edinbourgh with a degree in the classics, logic and philosophy. He was also engaged to be married, but when his fiance learned he was going blind and desired to be a pastor, she broke the engagement. He was totally blind by age 20. He went on to become a pastor. The words of “Oh Love That Wilt Not Let me Go” was written at his sister's wedding. Although his fiancé willingly gave up George and his love, this reminds us that God's love never leaves us, no matter the circumstances we endure on this earth O Love that wilt not let me go, I rest my weary soul in thee, I give thee back the life I owe, That in thine ocean depths its flow May richer, fuller be. O light that followest all my way, I yield my flickering torch to thee, My heart restores its borrowed ray, That in thy sunshine’s blaze its day May brighter, fairer be. O Joy that seekest me through pain, I cannot close my heart to thee, I trace the rainbow through the rain, And feel the promise is not vain, That morn shall tearless be. O Cross that liftest up my head, I dare not ask to fly from thee, I lay in dust life’s glory dead, And from the ground there blossoms red Life that shall endless be.
