for truth." This brings to my mind a quotation from one of my favorite American artists, Arnold Frieberg, whose paintings were often inspired by religious themes:
"Art is always best when serving a cause greater than the artist."
You also wrote: "I read this for the first time, and felt the pinch of salt
all over me, a burning feeling filled with emotion ."
I totally agree that the expression in Lt. Magee's poem never gets old. One of my mentors introduced this poem to me almost twenty years ago. I have read it so many times and I still, also, have "a burning feeling filled with emotion" very time I read it again.
