About Me
About Me

I was born in Ridgeway, North Carolina on a small farm. I was one of thirteen children. Times were hard and there was never enough of anything to go around. I left when I was sixteen. I moved to Englewood, New Jersey where I graduated from high school. I married young and separated after a month. I was on welfare for seven years. During this time I entered college and earned a Master's Degree. I taught the literary arts and performing arts in the public school system for 27 years. In the fall of 2005 I became seriously ill. My doctors drew a blank as to why I maintained a fever for 6 months and numerous other ailments that were never diagnosed. I became so seriously ill that I was forced to go out on disability and to retire in order to recuperate. For over a year I was seen by more doctors and submitted to more tests than in my entire life.

Needless to say, I was very distressed about this since I lost a younger sister to a similiar set of circumstances. Her unknown illness lasted 4 years. She lost the use of her body and voice during that time. She died a near mute, catatonic invalid. I adopted two of her children. Her oldest son has been missing since a few months after her death. No one has heard from him. There have been rumors that he attended a wedding of one of his friends then disappeared again. The family has no proof of this. He is officially a missing person.

April 14, 2011 I just received a nice message from someone who sounded concerned for my health. Thank you all for the concern you have shown me here in this Community. This is the first online Community that I ever joined. On Facebook I am reconnecting. In Adland, we are becoming a different kind of stranger. I know. That sounds wierd.

I am in control of my diabetes. I am in treatment for severe allergies. I have the indoor ones under control. The outdoor ones are setting off the vertigo right now. I carry my epi pen. I will be 60 in May. It is not easy to stay healthy and gorgeous. Smile. Hopefully the shots will help me become more resistant.

I am getting involved in the educational process in my town. I attend School Board and City Council meetings. I blog about all things educational in my town. I am currently writing an article on Dwight M. Morrow. Our local High School bears his name. A Board member made me painfully aware that noone knows who Dwight Morrow was. This includes him. I share the administration of an open Facebook page dedicated to providing information to parents that will help empower them to achieve a thorough and efficient education for their children.

I am healing myself by helping to heal a broken board of education. Perhaps pitching in will help. I volunteer. I am not going to send you to a page that promises you anything. I don't have any free ebooks for you yet. I have lots of advice on how to come back from illness, gardening, small space gardening, and timeshare travel. I have compiled a collection of books that America's Educator's think children should read. I try to keep it updated with Contemporary and Classic Literature from various genres. These books will challenge them intellectually. My astores include new and used Textbooks, works of fiction, novels and other books that will help them to develop academically and socially. In Watching 2 Much TV, I blog about tv shows and gripe about Internet crooks and other scam artists. It helps me get my frustration out. I help young mothers learn and teach their daughters how to take care of their kinky, curly or straight hair without harsh chemicals and excessive heat. I love braiding my little Avalon's hair. If you are my friend on Facebook, you know that already.

I have three beautiful grandchildren. They are 14, 4 and 2. I love spending time with them. I owe them a better world. I am back on my game people. The world may be spinning a little, but I feel fine.
