U.S. Army Announces Troops Will Stay In Syria After ISIS Defeat

(MPN) As the Syrian conflict has dragged on for the better part of six years, foreign troops have continually played a major role in the fighting and in the conflict’s escalation, causing some to comment that Syria’s so-called civil war is really a proxy war between competing geopolitical interests.

The presence of foreign troops has consistently been a point of controversy for the embattled regime of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad, as only one foreign nation – Russia – was ever invited to bring troops into the country. In contrast, the forces of other nations – nearly all of which have long been seeking Assad’s removal – have waffled between claiming that their troops are in Syria to fight the Islamic State or to depose Assad, placing the Syrian president in an undeniably complicated situation.

But despite how the involvement of competing foreign interests has drawn out the conflict, the Syrian government is quickly approaching what could very well be the final major battle for the fate of the nation. After reclaiming Aleppo from moderate rebel forces and the Islamic State, all eyes turned to Raqqa – the last remaining stronghold for the Islamic State and other extremist rebel groups.

Now, a few months later, Syrian forces are quickly closing in on Raqqa and, according to Assad, the Syrian war is set to end in “a few months.” Unless, of course, a foreign military intervenes.

While no official foreign invasion has been announced, there have been recent increases in the amount of foreign troops being deployed in Syria, particularly from the U.S. Beginning with an estimated 50 or so special operations troops sent in 2015, the number of U.S. troops in Syria is set to top 3,000, thanks to a recent deployment of nearly 2,500 soldiers in Kuwait who will soon be deployed to Iraq and Syria at the discretion of U.S. military command. Those deployed in Syria, according to Army Lt. Gen. Joseph Anderson, will be sent to Raqqa.

Though Assad has refrained from attacking foreign forces hostile to his regime that are operating within Syria’s borders, this recent escalation has prompted him to step up his rhetoric. In a recent interview with Phoenix TV, Assad stated that “any foreign troops coming to Syria without our invitation or consultation or permission, they are invaders, whether they are American, Turkish or any other one.”

Though Assad didn’t specifically single out U.S. troops, he did state the following:

“What are they [foreign troops] going to do? To fight ISIS [Islamic State, formerly ISIL]? The Americans lost nearly every war. They lost in Iraq, they had to withdraw at the end. Even in Somalia, let alone Vietnam in the past and Afghanistan.”

Assad then added that the U.S. “didn’t succeed anywhere they sent troops, they only create a mess; they are very good in creating problems and destroying, but they are very bad in finding solutions.”

“The complexity of this war is the foreign intervention. This is the problem,” he continued.

However, foreign intervention is increasingly seeming more likely than not. According to the head of U.S. Central Command Army General Joseph Votel, once Raqqa is liberated from Islamic State elements, U.S. forces will be “required” to stabilize the region as U.S. officials anticipate that “America’s allies,” i.e. anti-Assad rebels, will need assistance from the U.S. military to establish “Syrian-led peacekeeping efforts” in the area.

This is a frank admission that U.S. troops will not be going anywhere even after the Islamic State is removed, despite the fact that the presence of the Islamic State is the only justification the U.S. military has offered for its technically illegal presence within Syria.

If this comes to pass, the U.S. will once again be an occupying force in yet another Middle Eastern nation. It seems likely that the U.S. will return to its former mantra “Assad must go” and refocus its efforts on removing Assad from power once and for all.

IRAQ DETAINING ISIS SUSPECTS FROM MOSUL IN ‘HORRENDOUS’ MAKESHIFT PRISONS

BY

Iraqi authorities are holding over a thousand detainees suspected of links to the Islamic State militant group (ISIS) in “horrendous conditions” in prisons south of the northern Iraqi city of Mosul, according to a rights group.

Human Rights Watch (HRW) said Tuesday in a report that the Iraqi interior ministry had detained at least 1,269 men and boys without charge, and with limited access to medical care, at three makeshift detention centers.

Two of the centers are in Qayyarah, 60 kilometers south of Mosul, and one is at a police station in Hammam al-Alil, 30 kilometers south of Mosul, HRW says. In Qayyarah, 80 detainees are minors, the youngest a 13-year-old.

Iraqi men who have fled fighting in western Mosul between ISIS and Iraqi forces have been separated from their families to be registered and checked for links to the militant group, March 4. Iraqi forces are advancing into western Mosul, part of the offensive to retake the city over two years after it fell to ISIS.MARTYN AIM/GETTY

Tens of thousands of people, mostly civilians, have fled Mosul as an Iraqi coalitionrecaptured swathes of territory in the eastern part of the city, before launching a new offensive on the western districts.

At least four prisoners have died, according to HRW, “in cases that appear to be linked to lack of proper medical care and poor conditions,” while two prisoners' legs have been amputated, “apparently because of lack of treatment for treatable wounds.”

The detainees are individually interrogated by the intelligence service at the detention centers. Many are then transferred to the capital, Baghdad, to face charges.

Sarah Leah Whitson, Middle East director at HRW, warned that poor treatment of suspects could have the opposite effect of pushing people into the arms of extremist groups.

“The deplorable prison conditions in Qayyarah and Hammam al-Alil show that the Iraqi government is not providing the most basic detention standards or due process,” she said in the report. “Iraqis should understand better than most the dangerous consequences of abusing detainees in cruel prison conditions.”

Concerns raised by human rights groups as the battle for Mosul rages follow reports of torture and other mistreatment by Iraqi security forces while screening suspects during the campaign to liberate the western Iraqi city of Fallujah.

Assange: Clinton & The U.S. Intelligence Community Are Preparing To Overthrow Trump Using Pence

Posted by | Mar 14, 2017 | ,

Assange has seemed to warn about dark IC plans that see Pence and Clinton talking about Pence as president.

Many are certain that JFK was murdered by those within the Intelligence Community (IC). Some say that they did it themselves, while others say that the IC knew of it, but could not stop it. Lee Harvey Oswald hardly seemed to be the lone gunman and tactical genius that was necessary to do what is credited to him, but it is possible.

For those that find it a bit too unlikely to have happened like that, be prepared. There was news today about Donald Trump and a possible connection between the Intelligence Community and Hillary Clinton that has potential implications too dark to suggest. We’ve covered how Julian Assange, the founder of the (so far) virtually flawless Wikileaks, has warned before that the IC may be out to get Trump.

Now Assange has authored two very cryptic tweets, one saying: “Clinton stated privately this month that she is quietly pushing for a Pence takeover. She stated that Pence is predictable hence defeatable” and the other, nine minutes later, saying, “Two IC officials close to Pence stated privately this month that they are planning on a Pence takeover. Did not state if Pence agrees.”

Before any serious discussion can be had, it needs to be known that “Assange says that Clinton and the IC are planning to murder Trump” is the kind of broad brush painting that we want to avoid. However, it should still be active in our minds. That is the how logic and reason meet a healthy dose of paranoia. It is more than likely that Clinton or members within the IC mean that Trump is going to be impeached or thrown out of office.

All that can be said regarding that is that if Assange, who is living on what some think is borrowed time, thought that such was the case, would he have bothered with the tweet? While he accused no one of anything, it seems reasonable to at least suggest that it is a heads up. A “maybe this is true, Mr. President,” and nothing more, to paraphrase.

as

Clinton a long list of people who have crossed her or her family and wound up dead.

What is true is that, according to Assange, Clinton said it in “private.” With only 140 characters in a tweet, he chooses each word wisely. As we dissect this, would Clinton say it in private if she meant legal impeachment or the like? That is something that would be shouted loudly at a rally with great vigor if that is what was meant, not something said in private or in hushed tones.

Moving on, she is doing so “quietly.” It is rather difficult to impeach a leader quietly, to say the least. Is she pushing for an overthrow, perhaps some kind of coup de’ tat, Republican or otherwise? History remembers the Munich Putsch that saw Hitler try and take over the government before he was elected legally. He was even sent to prison for the deed. Again, we can only say such things about a woman as speculation until facts come to be, but so far it is not looking good. Clinton has a history as ominous as any in D.C. Removing Trump legally simply would not be done quietly, though nefarious planning may be.

She says that Pence is “predictable and defeatable.” This nugget can be taken in every direction from the reasonable to the tin foil hat club chairman. Is she meaning that Pence can be defeated legally on issues better than Trump can because Pence lacks the kind of support among the people? If so, that is both reasonable and correct. However, how would that happen? Could she mean “defeatable” in another presidential run in 2020, God forbid? For that matter, how has Trump not been predictable when he spoke of what he was going to do for hours each day and so far has done every item on the well read list? Does she mean “pliable?”

sdfsadfs

Signs from Wikileaks suggest that Trump is wise to question those behind the scenes. His overthrow, or worse, could be in the works from them.

The next tweet is where, to keep the analogy, the tin hat chairman lifts the gavel because depending on how this is seen, Pence could be viewed a possible threat. To this very day, there exists talk about Johnson and JFK, whispers that Johnson knew what was going to unfold. Some even say that Johnson didn’t want it to happen, but knew that if he dared utter a peep it could just as easily be him. Many of the most factual outlines about JFK suggest, hauntingly, that Johnson approved. Now all of this is not even close to saying anything like that about Mr. Pence, who has done nothing to warrant it other than to be VP to a man who many elites want dead.

Still, history keeps us on our toes. It makes us ask questions, like when Judge Scalia dies, for instance, with first reports of a pillow over his face, then of not. We MUST ask such questions when his wife rushes to hush the whole issue. We even ask if the answer is mundane with no conspiracy to be found. No one can cast doubt on Mrs. Scalia, either, but it is still why we ask. Our founders warned us to stay ever vigilant and astute, and as good stewards of the U.S, we must do so.

sdfsdfs

Wikileaks has a track record showing that Trump is right to worry about who he talks to about what.

If Clinton is talking about this and people close to Pence are also talking about this, then things are not good on Pennsylvania avenue for Mr. Trump. This is true no matter how it was meant or said. Why would people close to the Vice President be talking about this? Clinton perhaps would be due to impeachment prayers, but Pence and his people? If they suspected an impeachment, wouldn’t their duty be to alert Trump, not just give odd looks by the water cooler?

Any talk of “Pence taking over” needs to be talk that is questioned, even more so if it is emanating from the GOP side. JFK, had he lived, was going to expose the banks and the hidden hand that controls us all. The danger was already in place and setting up shop when he took office and was loved for warning the common American about his masters. Perhaps it is just a conspiratorial question, but does that sound the least bit familiar to anyone?
