U.S. Making Worst Humanitarian Crisis Since WWII Worse

March 13, 2017 at 12:52 pm
Written by

(ANTIMEDIA) Three of the countries featured on Donald Trump’s original and amended travel bans desperately need aid if there is to be any chance of saving more than 20 million people from starvation and disease, according to the U.N.

The U.N. has pleaded with the world to come to the rescue of Yemen, South Sudan, Somalia, and Northeast Nigeria.

“We stand at a critical point in history. Already at the beginning of the year we are facing the largest humanitarian crisis since the creation of the UN,” U.N. humanitarian chief Stephen O’Brien said last Friday. The U.N. was created at the conclusion of World War II.

“Now, more than 20 million people across four countries face starvation and famine. Without collective and coordinated global efforts, people will simply starve to death. Many more will suffer and die from disease,”O’Brien added.

Missing from the reporting on this humanitarian crisis is the United States’ role in exacerbating it.

Of the four countries mentioned in the report, the United States is actively bombing both Yemen andSomalia. American troops are also stationed in South Sudan. All three of these countries were also lumped into Trump’s travel ban despite the fact the U.S. military actively interferes in all three.

In the case of Yemen, America’s regional ally Saudi Arabia has been leading a coalition that has inflicted widespread suffering on the civilian population. The United States and the United Kingdom actively promote this crippling war by sitting in the Saudis’ control center and by providing military assistance to the coalition to carry out strikes. The U.S. and U.K. have also facilitated billions of dollars worth of arms sales. President Trump has continued this longstanding practice of arming Saudi Arabia, as well as conducting deadly raids of his own in Yemen. Still, apparently, he cannot see why it is necessary to allow their citizens to seek refuge in the United States.

According to the latest U.N. statement, more than 6 million people in Somalia are in need of basic food assistance. South Sudan currently has 7.5 million people in need of assistance, more than half of whom have been displaced.

One tomahawk missile costs approximately $1.41 million USD. It is not too much of a stretch to suggest that this money could be better spent if U.N. members truly cared about the suffering of the civilians in these countries.

U.S. Special Forces Preparing to Topple Kim Jong-un

(ANTIMEDIA) South Korea — For the first time, special forces units of the U.S. military will participate in ongoing and annual joint drills with South Korea, Asian media reported Monday. And the stated objective of their training is to prepare to take out North Korean leaders in a potential regime change scenario.

From South Korea’s Yonhap News Agency:

“U.S. special operations forces, including the unit that killed Osama Bin Laden, will take part in joint military drills with South Korea to practice incapacitating North Korean leadership in case of conflict.

“The U.S. Navy SEAL Team Six will join the annual Foal Eagle and Key Resolve exercises between the two allies for the first time, along with the Army’s Rangers, Delta Force and Green Berets.”

Naming North Korea’s ruler directly and citing an unnamed official from South Korea’s Ministry of Defense, the Joon Gang Daily said Monday that the elite units are there to “take part in an exercise simulating the removal of North Korean leader Kim Jong-un.”

The paper, discussing the team that took out Bin Laden, went on to note that Japanese mediareported on the special forces units’ arrival:

“The Japan Times reported that the American unit boarded the USS Carl Vinson, a Nimitz-class aircraft carrier last Friday, and are currently training in South Korean waters. The carrier will arrive in Busan Port Wednesday, according to the Japanese newspaper.”

Another unnamed military official, according to Yonhap, said the drills will also target the North Korean war machine.

“A bigger number of and more diverse U.S. special operations forces will take part in this year’s Foal Eagle and Key Resolve exercises to practice missions to infiltrate into the North, remove the North’s war command and demolition of its key military facilities,” the official said.

Joon Gang Daily quoted an official from the Ministry of National Defense who claims the move is in response to North Korea’s nasty habit of saber-rattling.

“It will send a very strong message to North Korea, which is constantly carrying out military provocations,” the official said.

As Anti-Media reported last week, tensions are high in the region now. North Korea, which feels threatened by the military cooperation between the South and its ally the United States, fired off rockets that landed just off the coast of Japan, another U.S. ally. North Korean state media laterconfirmed it was in direct response to the drills.

Watch Out, Iran: Israel's Missile-Firing Robot Ships Are Coming

Back in 2012, the U.S. Navy made history when, for the first time, a robot ship fired missiles.

The robot ship used in the joint American-Israeli project was a thirty-six-foot-long American design called the Unmanned Surface Vehicle Precision Engagement Model, or USV PEM. But the Spike missile it fired was Israeli.

Now the Israelis themselves have just fired their own missile from their own robot ship. The missile was still the Spike, made by Israeli manufacturer Rafael and used primarily as an antitank weapon by ground troops and helicopters. It has a range of up to five miles as well as a fire-and-forget guidance system.

But this time, the drone boat was Rafael's Protector model, which Israel already uses to secure its coast. The test involved a Protector firing multiple Spikes, according to a Rafael spokesman cited by IHS Jane’s. “The spokesperson said that all of the engagements were successful and included firing on-the-move, adding that during the trials Protector operated in seas with waves of up to 1.5 meters [five feet] in height, and that the company believes the armed platform will be capable of using the Spike system in up to Sea State 5 [eight- to thirteen-foot-waves].”

A photograph of the test showed what appeared to a Protector fitted with a Typhoon MLS-ER missile launcher, which includes up to four Spike ER extended range missiles, plus an electro-optical director and a fire control system, according to IHS Jane’s.

Why is this test significant? First, it shows that missile-armed drone ships are coming.

For now, the robots that have fired missiles in combat have been unmanned aircraft, most commonly the Predators and Reapers that comprise the backbone of America's drone war against terrorism. True, the U.S. Navy is developing the DARPA-designed Sea Hunter (formerly known as the Anti-Submarine Warfare Continuous Trail Unmanned Vessel, or ACTUV), a yacht-sized autonomous ship that is armed—for now—only with sensors to track submarines.

But there is no reason why unmanned surface vessels can’t be weapons platforms, and platforms that are more efficient in many ways than aircraft. An MQ-9 Reaper weighs just 2.5 tons, while a Protector USV is four tons and the Sea Hunter a whopping hundred tons, which means the naval robots can carry more payload. And just like aircraft carriers and submarines, a drone ship can also linger off an enemy coast for months, rather than having to return to an airfield to refuel.

However, the real reason the Israeli missile test is a game-changer is simply because the Israelis did it. As far as I know—and the U.S. Navy confirms this—unmanned ships have not fired weapons in combat. But if the ships are Israeli, there is a good chance that they will be used—if they haven’t already—to strike Hamas in Gaza, or Hezbollah in Lebanon and Syria, or even Iran (though fortunately for Iran, they don’t share a sea border with Israel). Which means we may soon see these vessels in combat for the first time.

Lawmakers Want the U.S to Stop Arming Terrorists
March 13, 2017 at 11:08 am

“For years, the U.S. government has been supporting armed militant groups working directly with and often under the command of terrorist groups like ISIS and al-Qaeda in their fight to overthrow the Syrian government. Rather than spending trillions of dollars on regime change wars in the Middle East, we should be focused on defeating terrorist groups like ISIS and al-Qaeda, and using our resources to invest in rebuilding our communities here at home.”

She continued:

“The fact that American taxpayer dollars are being used to strengthen the very terrorist groups we should be focused on defeating should alarm every Member of Congress and every American. We call on our colleagues and the Administration to join us in passing this legislation.

Rand Paul provided much-needed support for the bill, stating:

“One of the unintended consequences of nation-building and open-ended intervention is American funds and weapons benefiting those who hate us. This legislation will strengthen our foreign policy, enhance our national security, and safeguard our resources.”

The legislation is currently co-sponsored by Reps. John Conyers (D-MI); Scott Perry (R-PA); Peter Welch (D-VT; Tom Garrett (R-VA); Thomas Massie (R-KY); Barbara Lee (D-CA); Walter Jones (R-NC); Ted Yoho (R-FL); and Paul Gosar (R-AZ). It is endorsed by Progressive Democrats of America (PDA), Veterans for Peace, and the U.S. Peace Council.

One of Trump’s campaign narratives that resonated deeply with his voter base was an anti-radical Islam agenda, which separated him from Clinton’s campaign as he vowed to “bomb the ****” out of ISIS-controlled oil fields. However, his voter base may or may not be somewhat disillusioned now given that he just approved an arms sale to Saudi Arabia that was so controversial it was even blocked by Obama, a president who made a literal killing from arms sales to the oil-rich kingdom (ISIS adheres to Saudi Arabia’s twisted form of Wahhabist philosophy).

In the context of recent events, whether or not the Trump administration will get fully behind Gabbard’s bill remains to be seen. But considering the Trump administration is directly sending American troops to fight in Syrian territory, perhaps the various rebel groups on the ground have outlived their usefulness and the bill will be allowed to proceed unimpeded.

Retaliation Shooting After CNN Aired Fake Ferguson Footage, Fake News Now Deadly

Posted by | Mar 13, 2017 | ,

A false accusation in a new documentary regarding the timeline of events leading up to Mike Brown's death in 2014 has led to riots at the store Brown robbed before his altercation with police.

Doctored footage in a new documentary regarding the timeline of events leading up to Mike Brown’s death in 2014 has led to riots at the store he robbed prior to his altercation with police.

CNN has decided to endorse more fake news by promoting a documentary by Jason Pollock, a director who is known to want to stir up controversy every chance he gets. At SXSW in Austin over the weekend, Pollock’s documentary was shown to the public. After people saw the film, and word spread, anger ensued. Footage in the film resulted in a huge riot in Ferguson, MO.

The documentary, “Stranger Fruit,” was shown to a public audience and has now caused an uproar of protests in the spot where Brown was killed by a police officer during an altercation in 2014. Pollock claims that Brown did not rob the store before his death in the early hours of August 9, 2014, and footage from the documentary supports this claim. Instead, Pollock aims to attack not only the authorities involved in the situation, but also the Ferguson Liquor Market that reported the robbery in which Brown took part in before his death.

“This is a shady store. We’ve asked a lot of people in this community. You can buy weed at the store,” Pollock said.

“Stranger Fruit” shows Mike Brown at the store prior to the robbery, where he is seen exchanging marijuana for products in the area.

The new surveillance footage, captured about 11 hours before Officer Darren Wilson fatally gunned down Brown, shows him placing a small bag on the counter. The two clerks behind the counter pick up the bag and appear to sniff it. The clerks then give Brown a bag that allegedly contained cigarillos. Brown is seen taking the bag, but he then turns around and gives it back to them before leaving.

Pollock claims it was common for people in the neighborhood to barter with the clerks. He also says the younger clerks, who tended to exchange goods for various drugs, were discrete as to not let the older clerks find out about their trading tendencies. Therefore, in the widely publicized video released after Brown’s death, he was not stealing cigarillos, but rather retrieving them after he’d left them in the store earlier.

Pollock also suggests that if his footage had been released during the trial, the outcome would have been completely different. Authorities have said Pollock’s footage, even if it were accurate, is not relevant to the case at all. Officer Wilson stopped Brown for walking in the street, not because of a robbery.

On Sunday night, about 100 protesters rioted outside of Ferguson Liquor Market in retaliation to the documentary, which was perceived as true. The riots caused the store to close early for safety reasons, and there were also shots fired shortly before midnight. Luckily no one was injured, but the fake footage from the documentary, which CNN has highlighted since its debut, is undoubtedly to blame for the carnage created outside the store.

Pollock and Brown’s son, Mike Brown Jr., claim the footage in the documentary is real, despite being proven wrong on several accounts. The camera footage from the entire interior and exterior of the store was handed over to authorities after the incident occurred. The footage came on two discs, from all of the store’s cameras, labeled “Ferguson Market 1A” and “Ferguson Market 1B.” Both discs were given to the jury in the case after Mike Brown’s death.

A report from the court proceedings proves that all footage from the store was given to the jury during the trial, ruling out Pollock's claims and doctored footage.

A report from the court proceedings proves that all footage from the store was given to the jury during the trial, ruling out Pollock’s claims and doctored footage.

The Ferguson police department made no attempt to hide any information or evidence throughout the investigation, nor during the case. The optimal amount of evidence was handed over to the jury, and the ruling was given after a fair trial.

As a result of the documentary, the Ferguson Liquor Market has decided to file a suit against Pollock and Brown as a result of their false accusations. The store stands by its claim that none of its clerks were engaged in such activity with Brown, nor should the unsupported information in the video have put their lives in danger on Sunday night. An attorney for the store and its employees are also accusing Pollock of editing the video.

After being questioned by other news sources, CNN cannot independently confirm the video’s authenticity.

So why support this new information if you can’t claim any truth to it? What is CNN’s end game? The news outlet has one mission nowadays: to dismiss any progress made by law enforcement or the current administration by shedding light on things that hold no weight – like “Stranger Fruit.”

The liberal network’s interview, and subsequent support, with Pollock and Brown and their documentary comes shortly after some big announcements made by the Trump administration.

At the end of last month, Attorney General Jeff Sessions disputed the Obama-era investigation that claimed Chicago police officers used “unconstitutional use of force” and had a “pattern of racial discrimination” toward the city’s minorities. After ruling the evidence for the claims as insufficient, Sessions then announced his plan to work with law enforcement agencies around the country to encourage better tactics that could be used to handle extreme situations.

CNN's recent hike in covering fake news stories like "Stranger Fruit" comes just a few weeks after AG Sessions announced his plan for the DOJ to assist in retraining police officers around the country.

CNN’s recent hike in covering fake news stories like “Stranger Fruit” comes just a few weeks after AG Sessions announced his plan for the DOJ to assist in retraining police officers around the country.

That’s not what CNN wants, though. If the administration were successful in helping create better environments for both citizens and those who protect them, the network would have one less controversial thing to report. By helping dig up useless information and false evidence from a solved case, CNN is just stirring the pot that is already overflowing with meaningless scandals and fake news.

Working to uncover the lies behind these stories in the liberal media is the only way we can expose the truth. Fake news is not to be taken lightly. It’s reached a point in which it is becoming life-threatening. People care about this country and the direction it moves in. If we can’t agree to work on things that really matter, what hope do we have for the future?
