Hello Steven,
My hubby and I were camping so thought I'd stop by and tell
you about it. We went for 4 glorious nights/days.
We found the Best site at InterLakes, located about another 10K from
the Lower Lakes where we usually camp. We were right on the lake, with a
magnificent view of the lake, mountains and forests. The weather
once again was perfect, cold at night and in the morning; sunshine
and no wind during the day.
We walked some, played Scrabble, Crazy 8's, Gin Rummy and read...
a whole lot, inbetween watching people paddling around in canoes,
kayaks, row boats full of children and dogs! It is a perfect place to
recognize God and pray.
Randal (hubby) was taking an afternoon nap, and I came out of the trailer with
a small bowl of chips, put it on the table and started reading. About a
minute later a cheeky Whiskey Jack landed on the table and was about
to have a go at the chips! I got such a shock I waved my book and kinda
went EEEK, and he flew away. Four of them kept watch until I covered
the bowl, then they decided I was too cheap to feed them and off they
flew.
We also had a couple of chipmunks entertaining us around the campsite.
They dart around and when I felt something on my foot I looked down and
one was sitting on my shoe! Of course as soon as I moved he/she took
off at the speed of light. We also saw a lot of deer and a herd of mountain
goats, signs of moose, but no moose to be seen.
The colours were absolutely beautiful. Around the campsites, evergreens,
yellows, copper, red and warm pink, with the same reflected on the mountains.
What a contrast with grey rocky peaks, splotches of yellow mixed in with the
green. We've never been camping this late and we'll do it again in a hearbeat!
Have a wonderful Fall,
Jen
