WELCOME TO: "20 FOODS YOUR CARDIOLOGIST WON'T EAT" - Lifesaving Tips to Avoid Heart Disease
HEART DISEASE is the No. 1 Killer of Americans, both Men and Women, and the Foods we eat are the Main Cause of this National Medical Catastrophe. Scientific studies have proved that we can slash the rate of Heart Attack Deaths in half just by changing our Dining Habits, and Cardiologists have identified the 20 Worst Foods. These Foods harm your Heart in a variety of ways - by Loading your Bloodstream with Cholesterol, by Raising your Blood Pressure, by Elevating Your Triglyceride Levels and by Boosting Your Body's Production of Homocysteine, a Heart-Destroying Protein associated with inflammation.
You'll never catch your Heart Doctor eating any of these Lethal Foods - and you should steer clear of them, too.
1. Hot Dogs - High in Saturated Fat and Cholesterol. 2. Hamburgers - High in Saturated Fat and Cholesterol. 3. Sugar - Elevates Glucose Levels and Promotes Insulin Resistance, a leading cause of Heart Disease and Diabetes, which can lead to additional Heart Problems. 4. Ice Cream - Contains Sugar, Saturated Fat and, sometimes, Artery-Clogging Trans Fats. 5. Salt - Elevates Blood Pressure, Setting you up for a Heart Attack or Stroke. High Blood Pressure also damages Artery Walls and Overstresses the Heart Muscle. 6. Butter - It's almost entirely composed of Artery-Clogging Saturated Fat. 7. Deep-Fried Foods - The Batter or Breading Absorbs Fat from the Cooking Oil. Also, many Oils used for deep-frying contain Trans Fats, which are even worse for your Heart than Saturated Fats. 8. Commercial Baked Goods such as Cakes, Cookies, etc. - Usually Made with Trans Fats or Hydrogenated Vegetable Oils, which are the same thing masquerading under a different name. 9. Candy - Contains Trans Fats and High-Fructose Corn Syrup, a Sweetener known to have Adverse Heart Effects. 10. Chips - They're Deep-Fried and may contain Trans Fats. 11. White Rice - Boosts Glucose Levels and Leads to Insulin Resistance. 12. Margarine - Hydrogenated Vegetable Oil, also known as Trans Fat. 13. Whole Milk - High in Saturated Fat. 14. Whole-Fat Cheese - High in Saturated Fat. 15. Pasta made with White Flour - Sends Glucose Levels Soaring and Leads to Insulin Resistance. 16. Whole-Milk Yogurt - High in Saturated Fat. 17. Potatoes - They Elevate Glucose Levels and Promote Insulin Resistance. 18. Fatty Red Meat - High in Saturated Fat. 19. Fatty Poultry such as Duck, Goose, Dark-Meat Turkey and Dark-Meat Chicken - loaded with Saturated Fat. 20. Excessive Alcohol Consumption - One or Two Glasses a day is Heart-Healthy; More and this Ally in the Battle for Heart Health quickly becomes an Enemy.
Avoiding these 20 Foods will go a long way to maintaining a Healthy Heart, but it'll also leave a big hole in your Diet. Fill that gap with Heart-Healthy Alternatives. The Best Foods for your Heart are Salmon, Oatmeal, Kidney Beans, Almonds, Walnuts, Tuna, Brown Rice, Blueberries, Carrots, Spinach, Broccoli, Sweet Potatoes, Red Peppers, Oranges, Tomatoes, Winter Squash, Dark Chocolate, Tea and Red Wine(in moderation).
YOUR PERSONALITY COULD BE MAKING YOU SICK!
PERSONALITY Traits are no trivial matter. Recent research shows they play a key role in your susceptibility to certain Serious Diseases. Everyone knows that TYPE A Personalities - Competitive, Aggressive, Impatient, Argumentative - are more prone to High Blood Pressure and Heart Disease. But you probably don't realize that being CHEERFUL can shorten your life! A study at the University of California found that Upbeat People are good candidates for accidents because they underestimate life's dangers. Also, they have more difficulty coping when things go wrong. Here are some Personality Traits and what they may mean for your Health.
SHY Folks are vulnerable to Viral Infections because their Immune Systems aren't as strong as those of more outgoing types, report scientists at the University of California. If you're ANXIOUS much of the time, watch out for High Blood Pressure and High Cholesterol, say researchers at Northern Arizona University. Stress Hormones are the culprit PESSIMISTS have a 19 percent higher chance of dying prematurely than the general population. They're also more likely to get Parkinson's Disease, says Dr. James Bower, of the Mayo clinic. IMPULSIVE People are at High Risk for Ulcers bcause Stress triggers more Acid Production in their Stomachs. They also tend to have bad diets in general. EXTROVERTS are more likely to be Obese. On the other hand, they have lower rates of Heart Disease and recover fast from all types of illness. TIGHT-LIPPED People, who suppress their true feelings, are setting themselves up for Cancer and Heart Disease, say Harvard researchers. These People have high levels of Stress Hormones and Compromised Immune Systems.
CAUSE OF ALZHEIMER'S DISEASE FOUND!
HARVARD UNIVERSITY: Pathologists consistently find Plaque composed of a Sticky Protein called Beta-Amyloid in the Brains of Deceased Alzheimer's Patients. However, there are numerous forms of Beta-Amyloid, and scientists have been unable to determine which one causes the Mind-Destroying Disease - until now. In an extensive study on Rats and Mice, researchers found that a specific type of Soluble Amyloid consisting of Two Molecules causes symptoms of Alzheimer's, including Memory Loss, in Rodents. Insoluble Amyloid and Soluble Amyloid with One or Three Molecules did not produce an adverse effect. This is the first time a specific cause of Alzheimer's has been pinpointed and it is hoped the discovery will lead to strategies to both prevent and cure the disease.
CLEVELAND CLINIC: NO BLOOD CLOT FEARS FOR OLDSTERS WHO EXERCISE
THE RESULTS OF A RECENT STUDY SHOWING A LINK BETWEEN VIGOROUS EXERCISE
The results of a recent study showing a link between Vigorous Exercise and the Formation of Potentially Deadly Blood Clots in Older People have been called into question. The research showed that Older People who worked out had a statistically higher rate of Blood Clots in their Legs than those who refrained from Exercise, but more extensive investigations have revealed that a Couch-Potato Lifestyle is more likely to lead to Clots than Moderate, Regular Exercise. A Brisk Daily Walk is advised for People of all ages to maintain Cardiovascular Health.
MAYO CLINIC: DON'T SHUN THE 'SHROOM - IT'S GOOD FOR YOU
The humble Mushroom was long thought to be little more than a Flavoring Agent, but new investigations reveal the Garden Fungus to be a Nutritional Powerhouse. One Cup of Ordinary Button Mushrooms - you don't have to spend a mint on Exotic Varieties - contains 2.2 grams of Protein, almost a Full Gram of Fiber, 233 milligrams (mgs.) of Potassium, 2.5 mgs. of Niacon (an important B Vitamin), .3 micrograms (mcgs.) of Riboflavin (another Vital Vitamin in the B Family) and 6.5 mcgs. of Selenium. What's more, Mushrooms are Low in Calories and have virtually no Fat, Cholesterol or Sodium. That Nutritional Profile puts Mushrooms right up there with Broccoli, a well-established "health food."
BRITISH MEDICAL JOURNAL: SOFT DRINKS CAN GIVE YOU AN ATTACK OF GOUT
Gout, An Extremely Painful Form of Arthritis, Plagues one in every 400 Americans, and Soft Drinks may trigger bouts of the Excruciating Condition. A new study has found that people who drink Two Sugar-Sweetened Soft Drinks a day are 85 percent more likely to suffer from Gout. Scientists believe the Fructose in Soft Drinks Raises Blood Levels of Uric Acid, which forms Crystals that settle in Joints, causing Inflammation and Pain. Other foods implicated in Gout include Beer, Red Meat and Yeast.
UNIVERSITY OF TEXAS: GEL TAKES THE STING OUT OF INSULIN TREATMENT
A Jelly-Like Substance that can enable Insulin to survive a trip through the Stomach and then release it slowly into the Bloodstream could free Diabetes Patients from the need to give themselves Frequent Injections. Taking Insulin in Pill Form has been impossible because Stomach Acids break down the Protein-Based Hormone and render it useless. The Water-Based Gel soaks up Insulin and, in Lab Tests, successfully protected it from damage by Gastric Juices. Once it reaches the Intestines, the Gel releases the Insulin stored inside it, allowing it to enter the Bloodstream efficiently.

Hi Shirley,
I have an interest in anything related to health and enjoy reading articles such as this. I was particularly interested in the Alzheimers information because my mother-in-law has it and we care for her. We give her Huperzine A, a natural supplement derived from a chinese moss.
Thanks, Jennie
