Working at home gives me the freedom to be the full-time caretaker for my elderly mother so she doesn't have to go into a nursing home. Ning.com makes it relatively easy to create a social networking site and it's free. Of course, like all sites, the trick is to attract traffic and offer something worthwhile to the visitors - especially those who join the community. I was trying to do some of this on MySpace, but that didn't work out, so I'm happy I found Ning around last Christmas. So far, I'm happy with what we can do there. Hi Jenny, There are a lot of people starting networks on Ning, but many of them probably won't survive. I've joined several where the person who started it never came back, so I'm sure all they wanted was to post their links and ads. Others are growing quickly, or at least steadily. Hi Joe, I've found about a dozen groups on which I participate regularly, in addition to the half-dozen I started and manage. They offer the tools to build a real community, if enough people are interested in the subject. Good to hear from you. Act on your dream! JD
