BARE YOUR SOUL by Sara G. Blow

“Bare Your Soul” is a section of Sara’s Article above. <<Please click here to read full text>> |
Have you ever stood, naked? Oh, not in the sense of naked body, but your soul on display? It is easy to be defeated, momentarily. But, through that defeat you can rise above it and have the shackles cast from your eyes to see your own imperfection. Only in this way can you overcome. To regain that belief in one's self is never to have lost it. It is only a momentary detour from the route of achievement to a path of destruction by others. What is your career? What is your main objective in life? Have you set those standards by which you shall accomplish those goals? |
ACHIEVEMENT
Can you rise to the level of the standard you set for yourself? Can you rise to the top, achieve a very high standard and then discover you are not happy? Then at the height of this achievement be knocked from the pedestal by your own doing? Could it be that something inside you was crying out that you be rescued from this hell you had allowed yourself to enter?
If this has happened to you then you owe gratitude to those who believe they broke you. You can laugh in their faces at the plight of how they were used as tools to conquer the monster which was destroying your ability to be creative. They who thought they were breaking an insolent, egotistical, strong-willed individual only helped thrust you forward to better things. Society as a whole never accepts individuality. Yet, it can help you realize you do not need to be accepted to belong.
Those who are influenced and dominated by others, tempered by a growth of standards set by affluence, power, and politics – those synonymous with one anther. This is society that accepts success only by monetary gain. An important factor, of course, but who is going to believe a homeless person is a success? Yet, how can we determine that they are not? What about the “ragpicker” in Og Mandino’s book “The Greatest Miracle in the World”? “Fictitious”, you say, of course, but didn’t you love the character? Success is within you and what makes you feel good about yourself.
Do you judge a man's success by his status in life? How did he arrive at that place? How many people did he step or shove out of the way to get to the top? Did he get there on his own merit or through the opinions of others? Look at a person whom you admire very much and dissect that soul. What do you see? Can you see it, can you ever know what motivated that person to get to the top. A successful business man or woman, a president of a nation, a famous religious personality, an actor or actress of great acclaim; whom do you hold in great esteem or admiration? Would you want to be that person or someone like them - or, would you rather to be yourself, motivated from within your own self? Be in touch with inner feelings.
|
Be able to sense feelings of others as yourself. Do not blend with that gray sea of people out there relying upon others for accomplishment. Be a compassionate, sensitive being, be yourself. |

|
Can you judge a man from within? Can you go beyond his outward appearance and artificial actions to those which "make him tick"? Can you look over and above the influence of others and see that person as himself?
WE HAVE CHOICES
Permit me to digress a little to the present condition in our dear Country. Our nation stands at a crossroads of paths to success or failure. That path of success must come from within each of us. For, there lies within the soul of man, a set of true values. Those values must be brought to light and the only way to bring them out is to look inward and draw from that strength. Good can prevail over evil. We can start a revolution that will influence our leaders into action to bring about a forceful aid to our country and stop this destruction. Instead of superficial acts of "doing good" just to list on paper the amount of money being spent in defense of such powerful enemies as drugs, our leaders need to take action. Our so called `war on drugs' is a slapstick comedy and the face being slapped is our own. Where is the consciousness of those lawmakers allowing this to take place? Do they not realize they are bringing about the destructive force to defeat their own children, grandchildren and future generations? Yes we are letting this happen. However, there is hope.
YOU CAN CHANGE THINGS
Let's join forces across this great nation and spread throughout the world in a sincere effort to cleanse our political system for our own protection. The people we elect to run our country, the ones we send to Washington and around the world, those we choose to make our law and rules, must look inward. They must find morality again, find that inner strength of purity and fight for what is right in our life today and that of generations to come. Let's remove those shams of servitude, the blood-sapping evil power seekers and transform them into persons of true value. We can make them seek, search and strive to attain from within themselves the gift lying silent within most of us; a power greater than any ever imagined by forces of evil, and it is there within each of us. We must find it now.
We must act now. Now is the time for unification. We must each be strong and draw from our well of never-ending resources. Yes, it is now up to you. YOU can do it. God believes in you, do you believe in yourself?
Thank you,

Let me start off by saying that there is not much that I can add to Sara's "resume" that all of you don't already know so let's get down to discussing Sara's very interesting article that I enjoyed reading very much. It is a great honor to be chosen to review Sara's article for this most respected of forums "Article of Virtue". "Bare your soul" is a subject that needs dealing with in a most personal manner that Sara so eloquently describes. |
It is a heart wrenching process that necessitates complete honesty with ones self. Sara describes the success, downfall and the painful rebuilding process that takes over when true and sincere soul baring takes place. Do we thank those that caused our downfall? We most surely do since the rebuilding and reawakening shows us that we weren't on the right path to begin with. History has shown us that Good can be a result of Bad when we are positive and true in our analysis of the whole issue.
Do we want to emulate those with "successful" track records in life and business but are not true to their inner being, beliefs and are way off base in regard to human relations and sufferings? According to Sara and I agree, we certainly do not. Our role models should be those that are sensitive to all that is happening in this world and not as Sara explains "tell a book by its cover" and choose the wrong role model and leader in the process.
To be perfectly honest, I had a bit of a problem with the transition from the first part of the article to the second but still, I found it equally important. The "choices" described here are very true. I agree with what Sara had to say about the poor situation we are in due to lack of moral and ethical political leadership and that we as a force can create a different climate that will ensure change within our society and the world. The political conclusions and the way we can force our leaders to change and make changes are true and should certainly form an excellent topic for another Article Of Virtue.
I enjoyed reading Sara's article and hope to hear more from her in the future.
I would like to take this opportunity to Wish you all a Happy Festive and Holiday Season. |
