P.S. When I read about that ride to Hungary, I remembered my own ride to Berlin in 1996 (went to a seminar about minorities), from the Czech Republic .. I had an exactly the same experience .. and this was after the communism went down. The people in the compartment were just staring at the customs officers thinking them crazy.
