ARTICLE OF VIRTUE with Nick Grimshawe
8/4/2007 3:49:04 PM

I, and many others here, are proud to have Nick Grimshawe as a friend. Nick is the spirit of  British Columbia. He, not only able to describe everyday life there in a sensitive and refreshing way, but manages, at the same time, to display his spirituality in his writing.

Nick's blog at www.beautifulsummermornings.com reflects both Nick's observations and his writing skills. Nick loves to educate and share his knowledge and is always first to offer assistance. Settle down and enjoy a sample of what makes him special.

Thank you Sam, for this awesome honor of writing an article for your forum - Article of Virtue.

The article I had in mind was very different from the one I am delivering to you here, however, this is what came through me to share with everyone.

"A soft rain is falling washing away all our sins and tears"

I have been watching a love story on TV called "The Lover". In the final scene, while the heroine listens to the lovely "Moonlight Sonata", she grieves.

As the credits roll, I get up and walk into my office to check emails one last line. While there, I realize that I need to go beyond the computer to create my destiny. The computer is part, but not the whole.

I switch out the lamp to head back to the living room. As I turn, the darken room is softened (again the softness), the hard edges, rounded by dark shadows lending the room an air of magic.

Back in the living room I am aware of my heightened senses. My bare feet enjoy the soft carpet as I cross to the round table where we sometimes dine. As I reach forward to turn off the little, cafe light I am startled by the beauty of the wall paper. How well it has weathered the test of time.

Three steps up to the kitchen.. A nearly full bottle of wine sits on the counter caught by the light, there is a soft glow from the label. It looks like a picture from a glossy magazine.

I turn out another light. In the main dinning room on the big table is my briefcase, my lunch kit and my wallet all soften by a beautiful, hand-dyed Indian tablecloth.

I realize how much I love this house and how much of the scent of our lives leaks out from every object and every space.

As I quietly ascend the stair to my bedroom, listening to the comforting sounds of the rain, I feel like I am afloat in an infinite sea of love, that I am one sparkle in the dancing sea.
I am whole and yet I am not.

I am profoundly at peace, at ease, in comfort yet: I am poised on the edge of silence looking down a path I have yet to explore.

In my bedroom with its soft topaz, Italian-glazed walls, I am rich beyond dreaming. For tonight I embrace a sea of stars. I am one light among many neither greater nor lesser than the rest. We are all shining in the darkest sky.

I am serene and yes: even softened.

The soft rain is still falling, washing away our sins and tears ++.

Nick,

This is a wonderfully written article. Upon reading it I felt a sense of significance. “We are all shining in the darkest sky” beautifully put.

“I am whole and yet I am not” Extremely poetic.

This Article has airs of passion, beauty and poetry. Wonderfully descriptive to the point were the reader is almost there with you. I could feel the ‘softness’ yet also a sense of eerie silence that was somewhat poignant. Reading this was like reading an excerpt of a novel,

I felt I wanted to read more but unfortunately it ended. I would love to read more Nick, please do write more!

Hello everyone,

With the prevailing spirit of excitement and joy, I hereby present to you all, the third edition of our all interactive forum, Article of Virtue.

This edition, like every other ones is refreshing and is tailored in a different sparkling design with poetic undertone and streaks of drollness. I am sure you’ll enjoy the handwork of the Master himself, Nick Grimshawe as he unwinds us into an atmosphere of serenity and peace with his soulful rendition of “The Soft Rain is Falling”. His article is unpredictably witty and satirical as well as eloquent.

Also an excellent introduction by our dear friend Roger MacDevitt and professional review by the community’s best poet, Queen Juliana Bond.
My wonderful partner Judy Smith and energetic supporter Branka Babic (BB) are also here to lend their usual helping hand.

Please do have a relaxed time with us and many thanks to you, for all your support and kind wishes. My heart is full of joy.

                         Dear Nick Grimshawe,

(LOL, from now I write full name ;) )

I like this article very much. One day when I`ll embrace abundance of English words, I`d come back and write much informative review.

But now just to say that I have experienced all pictures  gathered while "A Soft Rain is Falling". I have a sense of merging of your different veils, sense of kind of integration not only parts of your being but ... some kind of your inner-outer reweaving and rising up.

Until I come back, I`ll left you a citation of my favorite Serbian novelist, esayist and poet Milos Crnjanski.

" I am watching at my little life on my palm like a black eunoch is watching at a ring of sultan`s wife while she has a bath : IT IS MY AND IT IS MY NOT..."

Judy, I am looking around for you ...

GREAT BIG HUG!

B.

Hi Sam,

I am overwhelmed! You have done your standard brilliant job and brought together a wonderful team to this forum Article of Virtue. I am humbled to be here with such Illuminati. As is typical of such an interactive process the whole is far greater than the parts.

To Roger:

Thank you for the wonderful review of my article. Sam doesn't say who is going to do the various parts, but  his instinct is perfect. I appreciate all that you have shared with me in the past, your insight and your wisdom.

To Juliana,

I don't know how you did that but you seemed to pickup all the moods and feelings that went into writing this article. Your words thrill me. While I was thinking about an article for this project, I had outlined a completely different idea. But that evening, when everything around me seemed so magical, I new I had to share the moment with my friends here. Strangely the article just flowed out of me: I held the pen but  the muse  wrote.

Thank you all so much for making this experience a highlight more me here at Adland. Where else I ask you?

I bow to you all.

Nick

Hi Branka,

Thank you for being the first to comment on the Article Of Virtue.

As for your English, I will take your wonderful words as they stand. The English language is tricky even for those of us born to it. That you understood on an emotional level what was in the article show clearly than language can be transcended with heart and passion.

Thanks for the citation from Milos Crnjanski. I'm still thinking on it.

With Love

Nick
