I wrote this one as a birthday card for one of my friends.

Harley Dude

You see them everywhere you go,
None look quite the same,
From young to... well, kind of old,
Some burred, some with a mane.

Many are packaged in leather,
Others come in blue,
Once I even saw one with a feather,
And believe it or not, one in a suit.

Many times they rove in packs,
But sometimes are seen alone.
Signs are placed on their backs,
Wings, things, and skull and bones!

Almost all that ever crossed my path,
Seemed to have this attitude,
That its their life's task,
To be a Harley Dude.

I don't know if anyone has ever felt like this, but I use to struggle with... well let's see if you can figure it out.  :)

The Deal of a Lifetime

As the sun peeked over the trees,
Shining through the window across the sill,
My slumber suddenly escaped from me,
Another day I have, what a deal!

Out of bed and into the day,
As I rush about getting dressed and such,
I have to stop and to my Lord pray,
I have found life to be much better with His touch.

After departing my humble abode,
Careful not to awaken the beauties still asleep,
A vision races into my mind, momentarily, and takes hold,
Scenes of hugs kisses, and smiles from those so sweet.

Jumping into the work for which I am paid,
The hustle and bustle quickly builds,
Quickly the delightful memories of this morning fade,
As my soul to the undesirable begins to yield.

As the ticks and tocks get lost in the busy,
Allowing the essence of time to become unclear,
Occassional encroaching daydreams make me dizzy,
From this, no rescue is my greatest fear.

Refreshingly, dusk arrives with its lingering finale,
God's way of refilling my soul with strength,
Reminding me to not dally,
For this day still has some purposeful length.

As some linear lives are exposed to the magic circles of life,
Encounters of noes, woes, and new amigos,
Exposing and witnessing many choices laden with strife,
I yearn for the moment that allows me to go home.

A street light throws shadows upon the terrace,
Where lies our four-legged guard, duty done for the night,
So late, caring not for my hand's caress.
My act of entering the house caught in her sight.

After finding my way around by the light of the moon,
Preparations for slumber accomplished with ease,
Visiting each of the little beauty's quiet rooms,
Scenes of hugs, kisses and smiles I do seek.

A pillow catches my head as it heavily settles in,
Everyone else slumbering in peace,
I thank the Lord for everything this day has been,
Asking only for the loneliness to cease.

As the tired departs from my body, falling into rest,
My thoughts begin to fade away from the real,
Remembrances of how this day did crest,
Yearning for another 'brightly lit sill' deal.

Inspired in a forum about how to spend money.....

A Dabble With Travel

I thought of buying a car,
but wondered could it take me afar?
Could it take me as far as I want to go
because some places there are no roads.

What about a trip to Hawaii
or maybe a long walk-about in Aussie?
There are plenty of places to go
Like All over Canada and beaches in Mexico,

Europe is huge and much to see,
I think I'd like with the Queen to have tea.
Set my watch with the Big Bend
And to witness the changing of the guard at the days end.

A pleasantry would be a ride down the Rhine
Occasionally stopping and having some wine.
Or maybe a drive through the ALPS
Eating a meal of knockwurst and sauerkraut.

One could not miss Paris
Wouldn't you agree, Oui oui?
To be bathed on the Eiffel tower in a full moon's glow!
Then off to have some wine while reviewing Picasso.

I'd like a trek into Romania, the most beautiful lands
Stopping off to visit some dear and wonderful friends.
Serbia is just around the corner, I can't wait
So much family of with to celebrate!

Ah, but wouldn't it be grand
on top of a pyramid to stand?
After visiting Athens and having some fun
and to finally see the magnificent Parthenon.

I must decide to visit the coast of the Black Sea
or maybe St. Petersburg is where I would be.
I found articles about the forts and the Taj Mahal
and realized that I cannot visit them all!

I must admit that a horse ride along the Sengani would be a treat,
or a long barefoot walk on the Lekki would be neat!
With my camera a safari I couldn't pass up
To see the wild lions, elephants, giraffes and such.

It has come to my realization
that I cannot decide to visit civilizations
or jungles, deserts, or answer the call of the wild,
But I do hope I'm gone for a long while.

There are a few people in my life who encourages me to think about things in ways that bring about an awareness of the unknown.  This poem is dedicated to those fortunate wise thinkers!

The Truth Beyond Obscurity

From long ago, a time hard to remember,
Thoughts appear as shadows and dreams.
The fog is heavy keeping everything a blur,
Yet still a few escape through the murky seams.

Dashing through the wisps of gray,
I can sometimes see a galloping white horse.
Disappearing along the path of a golden ray,
Through the meadow of space towards it's course.

The behemoth mist sometimes will reveal,
Glimpses of honor, respect and of the wise.
And one rare moment, there was a great shield!
Mostly it seems everyone wears a disguise.

Sometimes pearcing the thick great darkness,
Voices can be heard speaking of unknown things
Sounding as though it is a time to confess
Of matters of which only is spoken to Kings.

There are times when nothing seems to appear
From the depths beyond this bleary curtain,
Because of the noise from outside the internal sphere.
"Silence!" is commanded by the voice of which spoke the creation.

Moments of meandering whispers of nurturing vibes
Can be heard by my warm and receptive heart.
Ah, the blessings of which words cannot describe
With a power that one never desires from to be apart!

There must be a reason to have all these thoughts
Just beyond the grasp inside the opague haze,
Quietly I search for the things apparently sought
My awareness sending out a life giving praise!

I was inspired to write this poem while responding to my friends in the FOTM forum in which I was honored June 2009.

Enjoy!

A Clever Treatment

When one walks by
And won't look me in the eye
I find myself feeling astute
To think they didn't give a hoot.

A yearning to fix the moment
I decide to provide a treatment
In a flash I have turned about
My thoughts of fear without

I match their stride and speak
"Pardon me...", such a clever technique
To capture their undivided attention
Leaving them in a clueless state of suspension.

Before I continue this story
Admittedly quite corny
You should not be surprised
That they could think only of reprise.

When one envelops a stranger
Forgoing the possible danger
Thinking only of accomplishing a hug
Is it any wonder, instead a big thud?
