I don't know if anyone has ever felt like this, but I use to struggle with... well let's see if you can figure it out. :)
The Deal of a Lifetime
As the sun peeked over the trees,
Shining through the window across the sill,
My slumber suddenly escaped from me,
Another day I have, what a deal!
Out of bed and into the day,
As I rush about getting dressed and such,
I have to stop and to my Lord pray,
I have found life to be much better with His touch.
After departing my humble abode,
Careful not to awaken the beauties still asleep,
A vision races into my mind, momentarily, and takes hold,
Scenes of hugs kisses, and smiles from those so sweet.
Jumping into the work for which I am paid,
The hustle and bustle quickly builds,
Quickly the delightful memories of this morning fade,
As my soul to the undesirable begins to yield.
As the ticks and tocks get lost in the busy,
Allowing the essence of time to become unclear,
Occassional encroaching daydreams make me dizzy,
From this, no rescue is my greatest fear.
Refreshingly, dusk arrives with its lingering finale,
God's way of refilling my soul with strength,
Reminding me to not dally,
For this day still has some purposeful length.
As some linear lives are exposed to the magic circles of life,
Encounters of noes, woes, and new amigos,
Exposing and witnessing many choices laden with strife,
I yearn for the moment that allows me to go home.
A street light throws shadows upon the terrace,
Where lies our four-legged guard, duty done for the night,
So late, caring not for my hand's caress.
My act of entering the house caught in her sight.
After finding my way around by the light of the moon,
Preparations for slumber accomplished with ease,
Visiting each of the little beauty's quiet rooms,
Scenes of hugs, kisses and smiles I do seek.
A pillow catches my head as it heavily settles in,
Everyone else slumbering in peace,
I thank the Lord for everything this day has been,
Asking only for the loneliness to cease.
As the tired departs from my body, falling into rest,
My thoughts begin to fade away from the real,
Remembrances of how this day did crest,
Yearning for another 'brightly lit sill' deal.
