1/22/2007 7:54:18 AM
Hello friends, BHAGAVAD GITA - SONGS OF THE LORD/GOD - LET US READ AND BE BENEFITED - I wish to quote few of His songs here for enrichment of our knowledge on GOD, His teachings on A WAY OF LIFE, as Dr. Radhakrishnan, our former and late President of India, wrote a book entitled,"HINDUISM IS A WAY OF LIFE". ALL OUR DEAR FRIENDS MAY PLEASE BE BENEFITTED BY READING THIS AND CAN FREELY QUOTE YOUR RELIGIOUS BELIEFS/THOUGHTS WHICH TAKES US TO THE LEAD OF BHAGAVAD GITA, WITH RESPECT TO YOUR OWN RELIGIOUS FEELINGS. YOU ARE WELCOME TO EXPRESS YOUR OWN OPINION/EXPERIENCE TOO HERE. PLEASE TRY TO BE VERY HELPFUL FOR ALL OF US. BOOST THE RELIGIOUS MORALE!!! BELIEVE IN WHICHEVER GOD YOU BELIEVE!!!. TAKE THE BEST FROM ALL THE RELIGIONS!!!!. ALL LEAD US TO THE SAME DESTINATION, GOD!!!!. FAMILY THAT PRAYS TOGETHER STAYS TOGETHER!!!!. MANAVA SEVA IS MADAVA SEVA!!!... SERVICE TO HUMANITY IS SERVICE TO GOD!!!..... Bhagavad Gita SACRED SPACE - MIND AND INTELLECT The senses are said to be greater than the body; but greater than the senses is the mind. Greater than the mind is the intellect; and what is greater than the intellect is the SELF. Knowing that which is higher than the intellect and subduing the mind by reason, kill this enemy in the form of desire that is hard to overcome. Bhagavad Gita 3, 42-43 TOI Jan 22, 2007 OM THATH SAT - LORD IS TRUTH

Hi!

I don't really unerstand what this means:
"Knowing that which is higher than the intellect and subduing the mind by reason, kill this enemy in the form of desire that is hard to overcome.
Bhagavad Gita 3, 42-43 TOI Jan 22, 2007"

Can you explain it a bit? ;-)

Bst wishes
Mandra

Hi Mandra, Thanks for asking this question to explain. The senses are said to be greater than the body; but greater than the senses is the mind. Greater than the mind is the intellect; and what is greater than the intellect is the SELF. "Knowing that which is higher than the intellect and subduing the mind by reason, kill this enemy in the form of desire that is hard to overcome. Bhagavad Gita 3, 42-43 Knowing that.... Self/Soul/God... Self is greater and higher than the intellect... We use our mind to question by reasoning like: How can it be? How can I believe? I want examples to prove it... That's untrue.. Cannot get any proof to believe. Can you prove it?.... etc.,, This type of desires, questioning mind, crop up in us, of course to know the truth, but IF the same is for just arguing and disproving, then this type of desires become an unwanted ones, useless desires, which doesnot serve the purpose. Every one of us have this type desires, plenty buried in us. Just we cannot accept the truth, even when proved. That type of enemy, desire must be won over. It would be difficult. But we should try and avoid adverse thinkings of this nature, which would affect our HARD EARNED BELIEF ON GOD. That's the reason all our Ancient well learned, experienced and God blessed Saints and sages, do emphasise that we should have SHRADDHA, TOTAL FAITH, 100 PERCENT, in the teachings of GURUS, THE MASTERS, since they arrive and derive at solid conclusion, after a thorough study, in Meditation on God and God's verses.

Hi S.K.

I understand this well. In my quest for enlightenment, desire has got

in the way a number of times, sending me in the wrong directions.

Now, I don't have much problem with it as I have God's grace to

satisfy me in ways that makes desire a much lesser pleasure.

There are states of being that far surpass anything we can experience

with our five senses and it makes the enlightened condition much more

appropriate for me.

Robert

Hi Robert, Re: BHAGAVAD GITA - SONGS OF THE LORD/GOD - LET US READ AND BE BENEFITTED Thanks for your reply. Glad to know that you were driven away by desire before, and now you could overcome that problem, with GOD'S GRACE. JUST A NORMAL DESIRE IS ENOUGH AND OKAY. WHEN THE SAME DESIRE IN US EXCEEDS AND MULTIPLIES TO A LARGER SCALE, THEN WE BECOME GREEDY. This will lead us to all kind of wrong paths, evil means to achieve our greedy ambitions, as it is called as, and drive us away. OUR SENSES MUST BE OVERCOME AND CONTROLLED. BUT ONLY WITH THE HELP OF THIS BODY, MIND AND INTELLECT, WE SHALL WIN OVER THE SENSES TO REALISE THE TRUTH AND ATTAIN MUKHTHI/SALVATION. THAT'S THE REASON: We must keep our BODY clean, We must keep our MIND steady and on concentration of GOD We must direct our INTELLECT to not to deviate from the centre of approach to GOD.... LET US TRAIN THEM ALL IN ONE STRAIGHT LINE DIRECTION, RATHER THAN ON CURVED LINES. Thought it would be difficult to control the FIVE SENSES AND THEIR DESIRES TO ACHIEVE THIS AND THAT...TRAIN THEM TO: <<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<< FEEL GOD THAT HE IS VERY NEAR AND IN US TOUCH GOD - IMAGINE YOU ARE TOUCHING HIM OFTEN SMELL GOD AND HIS UNCOMPARABLE FRAGRANCE TASTE GOD - HIS VIBHUTHI/PRASADAM IS VERY TASTY/HEALTHY AND IT IS AMBROSIA/AMRITH SEE GOD IN DIFFERENT FORMS HEAR GOD AND HIS WORDS/VERSES >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
