Hi Mandra,
Thanks for asking this question to explain.
The senses are said to be greater than the body; but greater than the senses is the mind.
Greater than the mind is the intellect; and what is greater than the intellect is the SELF.
"Knowing that which is higher than the intellect and subduing the mind by reason, kill this enemy in the form of desire that is hard to overcome.
Bhagavad Gita 3, 42-43
Knowing that.... Self/Soul/God...
Self is greater and higher than the intellect...
We use our mind to question by reasoning like:
How can it be? How can I believe? I want examples to prove it... That's untrue.. Cannot get any proof to believe.
Can you prove it?.... etc.,, This type of desires, questioning mind, crop up in us, of course to know the truth, but IF the same is for just arguing and disproving, then this type of desires become an unwanted ones, useless desires, which doesnot serve the purpose. Every one of us have this type desires, plenty buried in us. Just we cannot accept the truth, even when proved. That type of enemy, desire must be won over. It would be difficult. But we should try and avoid adverse thinkings of this nature,
which would affect our HARD EARNED BELIEF ON GOD.
That's the reason all our Ancient well learned, experienced
and God blessed Saints and sages, do emphasise that we should have SHRADDHA, TOTAL FAITH, 100 PERCENT, in the teachings of GURUS, THE MASTERS, since they arrive and derive at solid conclusion, after a thorough study, in Meditation on God and God's verses.
