Each week we will honor a woman that has truly made a difference by her
contributions, courage, love, and selflessness. Women honored will be chosen from inside AdlandPro, outside AdlandPro, living in the present, and yes, we will not forget those heroines that paved the way for the freedoms we now enjoy. We will honor women who have shown tremendous courage and fortitude against all odds.

Luella May
I have one very important and wonderful person I want to nominate for Women of Courage. This woman is strong, passionate, honest, my best friend and knows what she wants......
I have learned so much from her through the years and am honored to say that this woman is my mother, Luella May.
Her life has been so far from perfect and yet she has the biggest heart. Luella puts others first before herself and does so with good cheer and a smile. She has always been this way. I can't understand it sometimes because of what she has been through. This is what makes her so special.
I know that people do bad things in life and blame it on their past. However, my mom proves that this does not have to be true. She has taught me that you get what you make out of your life. Just because you may have had a bad past does not mean that you have to have a bad present. You can make an awesome future for yourself. She taught me that you have to be happy from within ( I am still trying that technique ). I am not at liberty to say what all she has been through. However, I can say that her life was a living hell for her several times starting at early childhood.
One thing I can say about myself is that I was a victim of child abuse. Maybe the better term is survivor. Our lives were shot for several years over this. I remember the day I told her what was happening to me. Even though her life was about to ONCE AGAIN be turned upside down, she did not hesitate to handle this horrific situation in my defense. Because of this and for my safety, the police literally took me from her when she wasn't looking and would not tell her where I was. I had no clothes, dolls, etc. I can't imagine how she felt. As a little girl I can't recall looking at her thinking how hard it must be for her.
It always seemed like it was one thing after another. To make things worse, Mom was fighting a long time battle with a panic disorder. On top of it all she was able to hold down a full time job. I myself, don't know how she did it. I have had some problems with my 16 year old daughter and lost a job over it. I could not cope with what I was going through. I think about what my mom went through and had no idea how she did it. She has always been a trooper.
Even financially my mom always made sure I had what I needed and gave me a Christmas whether we had the money or not. One year she told me that things were very tight and told me not to expect too much. But when the day came to open presents, what I got was always more than enough. She raised me on "it's the thought that counts"and to appreciate what you have, which is what I teach my kids today.
Through all of this I look at her today and can honestly call her my hero because of what she has done for me. I think of the word "Courage" and think of her. She has overcome extreme obstacles and is still standing strong. A Mother, Grandmother, Wife, Author, business owner and confidant. Words cannot express how I feel about her. I wish I could tell you all how my heart feels for her but there are no words to translate.
My mom is my EVERYTHING and I want to publicly thank her for everything she has done for me. I love you Mom!
