Hello my Adland Family,
For those of you who have been praying for my friend Linda, and following her progress from her brain surgery... it's time for an update.
First of all, I wish to apologize for taking so long for this update. As you already know, Linda has been having some complications. I have been waiting for Linda's additional appts and findings before I updated you.
Also you should know, I have started a full time J.O.B. away from home. I'm doing something I really enjoy and I'm good at it, and am having a blast. But the bad thing is I am away from my 'puter quite a bit, and my time is even more limited then it already was... never-the-less, I am still here. Just moving slower than usual - LOL!
Anyhoo, about Linda...
My last update I told you about Linda's vision problems. Well, I'm afraid things have gotten more complicated. Linda's insurance is through her
estranged husband, and he told her he was cancelling her policy and
she would have no insurance. (The surgery itself was about $200,000 give or take, not to mention follow up care). This was, of course, about the time her
vision troubles began. (nice guy, huh). (2 days later, her "husband" called her back and said, "Oh, I changed my mind. You can keep your insurance"). Linda's PTO at her job ran out last Wednesday, so she has no income at the moment. The insurance company refused to approve an MRI (Robert T, I was VERY upset about this, but of course, nothing I could do). They did however approve a visit to an eye specialist due to the fact that Linda's vision is down to only 50%. The specialist examined Linda's eyes, and the only thing he could tell her was that he was unable to determine if the vision loss was temporary or permanent. This specialist does Lasik surgery and is very good at his craft from what I hear. He referred Linda to another eye specialist. Her appt was yesterday (Tuesday). This doctor said that the good news was there is no swelling in or around the optic nerve; the bad news; he was unable to tell Linda whether she would ever get her vision back. Time will tell. Although Linda has been released to go back to work, she cannot see to drive, and any amount of reading causes headaches. :(
Now, possibly the steriods are causing the vision problems. We don't know yet. I know Linda started reducing her steroid meds today, and she did say her vision was just a tiny bit better. Keep your fingers crossed!
Thank you for your continual prayers. Linda appreciates it and so do I. Thank you!!
Toodles,
Lisa :)
