Current update on Linda
9/25/2006 10:40:39 PM
Hello my friends!

Well, it has been a long, crazy and stressful day. And I'm pooped.

But... believe it or not, Linda is at home resting. Her "procedure" (as the hospital called it), went perfectly! She did have a bad reaction with the local
anesthesia, but they dealt with it quickly.

I found a site online that has a video of the procedure that Linda had, if you're interested. It isn't bloody or anything, and I found it quite interesting. Here is the link. You will have to download the video to view it.

The next couple of days, Linda has to rest, no driving for 24 hours, and of course the worst part... she has to sleep sitting up for about a week or so - YUK! Her post-op appt is in 3 weeks with her surgeon. The really weird thing is that even the doctors don't know if the surgery will shrink the tumor or not. And they won't know for a whole year - Can you believe that? She will have an MRI a year from now to check the tumor. The nurse said Linda may be able to tell a difference (less headaches, etc.) but they won't know till sure until the MRI.

Linda is on pain killers, medication to reduce the swelling in her brain (due to the procedure, it causes tissue swelling), and a third med so the second med doesn't make her sick to her stomach. Uh huh; so many of the meds they have now have some awful side effects... hmmm...

Anyhoo, I told Linda's kids that if they need me, even if its 3 o'clock in the morning, to call me - that I would sleep with my cell phone on my night stand.

Thank you for all your prayers!! Keep on praying, if you would be so kind. She still has a long road ahead of her until she actually finds out the results from the surgery, ummm... I mean the procedure.

Okay, I'm going to bed now. Its been a very long day.

Night, night.

Toodles,

Lisa :)

PS If this post seems a bit scrambled, my apologies. My brain is tired :)

Hello Lisa,

I am glad that you have taken the time to keep us informed with regard to an Adlander's health problems and treatment. My heart goes out to Linda and her family, as with any surgery there is always some degree of risk. Nevertheless, it is my understanding from the information provided that this "Gamma Knife" procedure is one that limits some of the risk associated with brain surgeries and I would imagine that she will be in her peek after the rest normally associated with said procedure.

You are as some of the others mentioned; a great friend and I am thankful for the data you provided with regard to her current state. I am not sure which Linda you are making reference to as I have so many in my list of friends, regardless she is a friend of mine and I needed to make this comment and thanks to you for the updates. My prayers are with her and I will look forward to any and all future updates that you provide me.

From my heart, I thank you once again and pray that you keep the information coming in this matter, please inform her that I have her in my prayers and will continue to root for her speedy recovery and return to us here at AdlandPro.

Sincerely,

Manuel D.

Hi Lisa,

I'm so happy to hear the good news about your friend! I'm sure everyone is vastly relieved. I'll continue praying that the procedure worked.

Anyone would be fortunate to have a friend like you.

Blessings . . .
