Mao loves jerky!  I don’t give it to him because it upsets his tummy.  I tried giving him the jerky made for dogs, but he doesn’t touch it.  I think it’s the flavorings and pepper on the people jerky that upsets Mao’s stomach, but where does one find plain jerky?  We are going to buy a food dehydrator soon so I can dry fruit for myself and the bunnies (no added sugar or sulfur) and meat for Jeff and the cats because when meat goes on a really good sale we can stock up on it and make the jerky.  Oh, yeah…Jeff (the human) likes jerky, too.  But, the commercially made stuff is so dry and tough it takes a lot of chewing to get that junk down.  We also get to control the moisture content with a dehydrator.  Not to mention flavorings and salt.  Mao, the cat, can handle the small amount of salt necessary for curing the beef.

I love my cats and rabbits so much I am willing to buy a dehydrator for them.  Ah, it’s only about $60 US and I spend a lot more than that on stuff that is not nearly as useful.

Sam & Suzi:

You guys make a very good point!  People should give their animals food that is as close to nature as possible.

Ever wonder why so many dogs get diseases and stuff?  I hear so often people blame the "pure-breds".  Well, I would beg to differ.

Awhile ago I learned a shocking, horrifying truth about pet food.  I learned that pet food companies KNOWINGLY put contaminated substances in the "mix".

Ever wonder what happens to those farm animals that get diseased and sick?  Do you think the farmer just shoots and burns them?  HA!  Sorry, the farmers take these poor creatures and sell them to the pet food companies where they are ground up as pet food!

Nice huh?

Makes you think about that for a moment doesn't it?  There are pet food companies online that sell NATURAL FOODS for your best friends.  Do a search and find a reputable comapany.  I encourage everyone to check them out.

STOP feeding your best friends food that is diseased!  You wouldn't eat food like that!  Why make them eat it?

Give them some of this jerky for a very nice treat!  It's natural!  (Although I wouldn't reccommend it for Boxers as most of them do have very sensitive stomachs)

My 2 cents...........
