Scam Alert #13
8/26/2006 2:39:43 PM
Although e-gold phishing emails have been posted here in the Adland community previously, I wanted to make sure everyone knows what just one (of the huge variety) looks like.

Notice that the url starts with https. The "s" in the http normally indicates that the url is a secured page. However in this case, it is not. Just another way to try and people to click.

Be safe!

Toodles,

Lisa :)

Hi Lisa, Thanks for the info, much appreciated.I do have an e-gold account or I did have an e-gold account a long time ago, maybe several months now,but it is still good to keep people informed about these scams. Just yesterday,I had an e-mail from Neil Reinhart, saying about a scam, and I replied. I was basically telling him that I received three on Thursday, the first being a PUP(Potentially Unwanted Programme),sometimes they have been laced with evil intentions, most of the time not. The second AND third ones were for Paypal Money Owed, and when you opened the attachments, there were keyloggers which would attach to your hard drive and any key or programme you were involved in was immediately transported back to the origin. I thought that the only way a KEYLOGGER could get into the hands of its originator was for me to reply to the email, but alas,I was wrong. I am sorry that I did not post these on the Adland site, but I just wanted to get rid a.s.a.p. Sorry if this is a bit long. Thanks, Gary. http://www.rememberme4ever.net

Yep, these scam emails are all over the place.

EEK! Keyloggers are bad news.  I hope you got it removed okay.

Long posts are welcome, anytime.

Lisa,

When receiving emails like this it is best to go to the companys site and log into your account. That is, if it is a company you do business with.

When you log in you can then check your account and if there is a problem it will show up there.

Another thing is to call customer service to varify the email.

When receiving an email like this you can copy the headers, click forward, paste the headers and send it to spoof@ what ever the company domain is.

This way they can trace the original source of the email.
