Hi Gani!

You are most welcome for the invitation. Thanks for stopping by :)

I'm sorry to hear about your friend being scammed. You should invite them to my scam forum :)

Folks, if you have entered a contest of any kind, online or off, you should never have to pay one penny to collect on it.

Toodles,

Lisa :)

Hello Laurie!

You are most welcome for the alert.

Yes, I've been around the Net for a long time too. The scammers have (and will be in the future too) are becoming more technicaly advanced in their scams. I am continuously amazed by the lengths they go to take peoples money.

Folks, Laurie is very correct (...
#1 Rule Of Thumb...If It Asks YOU to Pay For it to get YOUR Winnings, Inheritence, or whatever they claim; it is most definately a SCAM.)

Thanks Laurie!

Toodles!

Lisa :)

Neil,

This is a definate bummer for Pam:

I also sent a "Direct Contact" about this to all my "Adland" friends and "Pam" from Canada sent me a reply. In it she said (the real) PayPal had sent her an e-mail telling her someone had taken money from her account.

How the bad guys got her password is beyond me. Had PayPal not notified her
she would not have known it had happened for at least a while. Anywho, she changed her password and hopefully,
she will not lose any more money.

More hopefully, maybe PayPal will refund what she lost.

Please, Take Care!

Neil

The best advice I can give folks to protect their supposedly "secure" accounts online...

Change your password every 30 days, and never, ever allow your compute to save the password. And so you don't forget it, write your passwords down in a spiral notebook, with a note to yourself which site the password goes to.

Toodles,

Lisa :)

PS It sounds like Pam might have a keylogger on her computer. Keyloggers can detect every key we type, including usernames and passwords. I would suggest that Pam use a anti-spyware software to scan her computer, looking for Keyloggers.  Here are a couple of good online scanners (they are free, and there will be a small piece of software she that will need to allow to download to her system)

Spyware BeGone
Panda ActiveScan
Ad-Aware SE
SpyBot Search and Destroy

Hey Brian!

Well, the lottery scams haven't hit my physical address yet. Or if they have, I just destroy the letter and move on without even opening it. LOL!

Yep, they are sneaky, aren't they (or they think they are at least).

Thanks for visiting us!

Toodles,

Lisa :)

Hey Nick!

Thanks for coming by :)

Oh, all you have to do is send them your Visa number...  Ya right! Perhaps you should start telling them to just give you the money and you'll discuss the Visa card number with them at a later date.... say, ummm... NEVER!

Toodles,

Lisa :)
