New Form of Ebay SCAM!! - Please Read!
4/1/2006 7:23:43 PM
Hello My Friends, I just received a new type of eBay phishing email. This time it was in the form of a question to a seller. My antennas are always up on this type of thing. They sent an email asking me a question about a supposed listing, which of course I didn't have any. So, I decided to click on the listing number to see where it would take me. It directed me to a 'login like' page. First, if you are just going to view a listing, you should not be required to login. Second, I looked at the URL in the browser address line, and saw right away it wasn't eBay. I immediately reported the email by forwarding it to eBay at spoof@ebay.com. You should do the same if you receive any of these emails. This will help shut the phishers down as quickly as possible. Please be careful, as these phishers are always trying new tricks to get you to give up personal & private information.

Hi Tanya, TO get away from all these types of scams, The top virus companies have come up with excellent programs incorporated right into their virus programs. When you get certain emails or programs to your computer, a line comes up and tells you that it is a possible: phising, spoof, etc email or site. Panda and Norton both do this and has and does also block cookies and adware. What a time saver with True Technology. So not to worry if you can install these type of security measures. It's very well worth the inexpensive cost. ----------------------------------------- Place a FREE AD on me: http://FreeAdTraffic.com

Hi JR, I've heard about Panda, and actually that it is better than Norton. I'm almost ready to renew my virus protection, so I think I'll do a little more research and get that in place. Thanks for the information. :)

Hello Tanya, Thank you for the great advise. It just so happens that recently, I recevied two phishing emails supposedly from PayPal. believing that they were genuine I stupidly, clicked on the link. Well, needless to say, I learn a valuable lesson. I wound up closing out my account, and creating another one. Just like you Tanya, I sent the emails to spoof@paypal.com. It never amazes me how some people spend their time. Rather then trying to improve things, or make this world a better place, such as finding cures, they would rather try to out smart others, and take advantage, and apply their time, energy, and skills, to resorting to neagtive vs, positive, like creating virus. Oh well, thank God that the majority of people are good vs. evil.
