So, is Kaep unpatriotic for refusing to stand for the national anthem to protest police brutality and oppression of Non-whites and the powerless? Depends on multiple factors such as the following: life experience, family upbringing, race/ethnicity/culture and other factors that influence one's perception about America. Clearly, many people have opinions about this controversy so let’s examine it.

Those who oppose Kaep, maintain his conduct is disrespectful towards the military and because he earns several millions of dollars playing football, raised by a white family and earns millions in endorsements then, America isn't a racist nor oppressive country towards Nonwhites. However, ample evidence was documented that Kaep's protest was directed towards “Police Brutality”. Those who support Kaep appear to vary in degrees based on respecting the core of his protest (police brutality) but, oppose his method by remaining seated during the national anthem with other means available to him to address the inequities he finds offensive (blogs, Town hall meetings, ads, TV, etc.).

As an entrepreneur let's look back in history and ask the following question: "how were Civil Rights and Liberties achieved"? Yeah, protest that challenged the status-quo and violated cultural norms and laws. Isn't ironic to achieve equality for ALL throughout man's history violation of laws and customs was required to create dialogue and analysis of the issues at hand that were perceived as discriminatory. All this despite a Constitution that maintained “All Men are Created Equal”; however, Kaep insisted law enforcement doesn’t believe that principles and often fails to execute it when dealing with people of color.

So, Kaep has pledged to continue to remain seated during the national anthem and will continue to do so until he sees substantive change. Also, he pledged to donate a$1 million dollars to charity.

Well, entrepreneurs are we not renegades that violate the status-quo to achieve our objectives? Are we not about social change to create a win-win for all by using economics, business and innovative thinking to assist in creating value and solving the problems of those who need our help? Similarities are clear but, feelings play a role in such an emotional controversy.

Maybe a little of both. People can hardly show their response to the way things are without getting hammered, ie. criticized.
