Pat
Pat, can't remove the cyst? I know that sometimes they come back even after surgery. My granddaughter had one on her wrist about the center. She plays piano and they were afraid it would cause problems if it continued to grow. It was a tedious operation because of possible permanent nerve injury but the did remove it. I believe it has come back and they decided to just leave it alone for now. I had one form on my middle finger at the nail bed. As you say, it was painful and would swell up at which time I would sterilize a needle and puncture it to drain the liquid. I kept doing this and asked the doctor about it. He said what I was doing was better than trying to remove it. Well persistence along with prayer and it went away and has not returned. Back surgery is not something I would ever recommend for anyone. I know people do in spite of but there seem to always be complications. You might have seen some of the comments made by my niece on FB (Denise), she had surgery about the same time you did in almost the same location. When I worked for a chiropractor here in Burlington, he would treat some of the athletes from highschool who had been injured. He had several different ways of treatment. If you have a good one around there, it would certainly be worth a try. People would come to him and take PT at the hospital. When I had shingles, I discovered a lot about nerves and how they affect different parts of the body. Those nerves are located at base of skull and across the back shoulders. It has been 3 years but I still have the tingling and itching at nerve endings where I was broke out. Nerves are strange and the best thing always is 'don't panic' try to keep calm, find ways that help ease the pain. When you fight against it, things get worse. I wonder how water therapy would work for your hand? Yes, listen to Robert and all these other people who have learned to cope with pain. You will get better and learn of ways to make it easier. Just keep believing that you will get well and be patient, it will just take longer than you want it to. I know it has already been too long but now you have to allow time for healing from the surgery and pray there will not be more complications. You are in my prayers friend and I send wishes for healing your way, Sara
