Hello Roger,

You asked and you got it. Here are two more paintings by Caspar David Friedrich. The first one, Fog in the Elbe Valley, is of the symbolic - allegorical sort. It has been said to represent the triumph of light over darkness. Actually, all of this artist's masterpieces have a strong idealistic component, as can clearly be seen.

Hugs,

Miguel

P.S. As usual, you may click on the images to enlarge them.

HI Luis,

That is a good name for it, "Light over darkness", you can see where they would get the idea for the name. One little spot of light can destroy the darkness.
Hugs,
Myrna

Once again, Luis, you have chosen works that transport the viewer to a time and space that seems not quite 'earth bound'.
This first painting feels very contemporary, because of the feeling of uncertainty of the unknown and what could be to come.
Standing on the cusp of change.
