CHINA WAR FEARS: Taiwan holds ‘LARGEST’ military drill in years over invasion panic

TAIWAN carried out its largest military exercise in five years to simulate a possible Chinese invasion as tensions with Beijing continues to rise.

The island, situated off the coast of south-east , staged a drill featuring 22 warships and 22 fighter jets yesterday. The boats involved in the war simulation included two anti-aircraft and anti-submarine guided-missile warships, while the jets counted, among other aircraft, the Mirage 2000, the F-16 and the Indigenous Defense Fighter (IDF) - the nickname for the AIDC F-CK-1 Ching-kuo, a multirole combat aeroplane. The Taiwanese forces fired their cannons, missiles, depth charges and machine guns during the simulation.

But they also worked on anti-submarine tactics in the waters close to coastal cities Suao and Hualien to tackle Chinese submarines, considered Beijing’s most worrying threat by Taiwan.

And land and naval forces together carried out a drill focused on defending strategic naval port towns, which included responding to a threat coming from the air, with enemy jets flying over the Taiwan Strait, according to Central News Agency.

One of the war simulations enacted saw IDF planes playing the part of the “enemy” and streaming towards Hualien’s port.

Taiwan responded with four F-16 jets and four Mirages being scrambled to counter with dog-fighting and eight missile-laden speedboats rushing through the waves to strike from sea-level.

Taiwan has conducted a number of military exercises in the past years - but this one was the “largest at sea since the Han Kuang 30 exercises in 2014”, Taiwan News wrote.

This comes on the same day two US warships, USS Preble, a destroyer, and USNS Walter S. Diehl, a supply ship, sailed through the Taiwan Strait.

This move, which Washington said was “in accordance with international law”, is believed to have been done to show solidarity to Taiwan and other countries whose sovereignty isn’t recognised by China.

The US Navy said in a statement: “The ships’ transit through the Taiwan Strait demonstrates the US commitment to a free and open Indo-Pacific,’ the navy said.

“The US Navy will continue to fly, sail and operate anywhere international law allows.”

Beijing has last month complained about international ships going through that strait, as it doesn’t accept the narrow passage as international waters.

In April, the Chinese Navy warned off a French warship that had entered the Taiwan Strait and lodged an official complaint with Paris, Beijing said.

China, formally the People’s Republic of China, sees Taiwan, formally the Republic of China, as a territory under its sovereignty which should be juridically reunited to the mainland - despite being two separate entities since 1949.

Father Asks for Prayers After Wife Is Murdered, Son Is Ripped From Her Womb

A young father is asking for prayers after his wife was murdered and their child was ripped from her womb.

"With all my heart I keep asking for your help. Pray as My Son Yovanny (Y)adiel Recovers. Thank you very much for the prayers and support that you have given me, I have no more words of thanks. God bless you. This help that you all are giving me will be for the future of my children Thank you, My children will forever be grateful... God bless you," Yovani Lopez writes in a GoFundMe page for his family.

Lopez reported his wife, Marlen Ochoa-Lopez, missing in April.

CNN reports a mother-daughter team strangled Ochoa-Lopez and cut the baby out of her womb so the mother, Clarisa Figueroa, could raise the child as her own. Ochoa-Lopez's body was found in the Figueroa's backyard trashcan.

A PBS affiliate offers further details:

The family of Ochoa-Lopez, a married mother of a 3-year-old son, said a woman on Facebook had lured her to the home by offering a stroller and baby clothes.

A break in the investigation came after Clarisa Figueroa set up an online fundraising campaign, another spokeswoman for Ochoa-Lopez's family said. The GoFundMe campaign said that the baby was about to die and money was needed for a funeral, Sara Walker said.

Police then conducted DNA tests to determine that Ochoa-Lopez and her husband, Yiovanni Lopez, were actually the baby's parents, Walker said.

The atrocity, though, has brought the Ochoa and Lopez families together.

"It's been five years since I've seen my mother. It's something beautiful," Lopez said in Spanish. "We didn't want it this way, but only God knows why he takes someone."

Ochoa-Lopez's family traveled from Mexico to for Ochoa-Lopez's visitation and funeral and to see baby Yadiel, who is still on life support and unable to swallow. Doctors say the child is brain-dead.

Ochoa-Lopez's father, Arnulfo Ochoa, clings to his faith for his grandson.

"The doctors say he doesn't feel anything," Ochoa said. "But when we touch him, he reacts. The baby is getting better. This is the gift Marlen left me. I'm going through something so bad, but my faith in God is keeping me going."

The Chicago Tribune reports the family has been singing church hymns to the little boy and talking to him, careful with the breathing tube and connections to monitors.

"We want him to know we love him," Ochoa said. "That positivity is helping him. He is a miracle of God."

Ochoa-Lopez's alleged killers, Figueroa and her daughter Desiree, have both been charged with murder. Police also charged Clarisa's boyfriend, Piotr Bobak, with concealing a homicidal death.

The GoFundMe page has raised more than $45,000 of its $50,000 goal to help the Lopez family.

NEWS

Target stores donate $100K to LGBT nonprofit that promotes ‘inclusive’ K-12 schools

Martin M. Barillas

NEW YORK, May 20, 2019 (
LifeSiteNews) — Target department stores are not only offering clothing and accessories celebrating the gay lifestyle to adults and children, but the company has also pledged to donate to a nonprofit that trains students and teachers in LGBT politics and advocacy.

On Target’s official website,
it has several pages dedicated to merchandise that features the rainbow gay pride flag as well as messages intended to instill pride in the LGBT lifestyle. In addition, Target proclaims that it is donating $100,000 to GLSEN, an organization founded in 1990 that claims to be “the leading national education organization focused on ensuring safe and affirming schools for LGBTQ students.”’

According to GLSEN’s website, “Our mission is to create safe and affirming schools for all, regardless of sexual orientation, gender identity, or gender expression.”

The organization offers lesson plans for elementary school children on “gender-neutral” pronouns and terminology as part of the Common Core curriculum as well as
introducing gender ideology to third-graders. GLSEN partners with the United Nations and like-minded groups in Canada, China, Ireland, Israel, South Africa, and the United Kingdom.

Coincidently, Target chief marketing officer Rick Gomez also serves on GLSEN's board of directors.

GLSEN provides training and resources to LGBTQ activists on school campuses while also advocating the homosexual cause in the political sphere. According to its website, “We accomplish our goals by working in hallways across the country — from Congress and the Department of Education to schools and district offices in your community — to improve school climate and champion LGBT issues in K-12 education”

Target offers
children’s clothing, for example, that features the rainbow flag and promotes the LGBT cause. One shirt proclaims, "Love my dads," and another says, "Love my moms." Others shirts are emblazoned with the rainbow flag bearing the word “pride” superimposed.

For adults, there are the "Pride Adult Gender Inclusive Iridescent Five Panel Hat," "Pride Striped Bisexual Flag Bandana," "Pride Striped Transgender Flag Bandana," "Pride Adult Striped Gender Inclusive Jumpsuit," and a number of other accessories and articles of clothing.

Besides Target, major donors to GLSEN include Hollister, Walt Disney, JP Morgan Chase and Co., HBO, Delta Airlines, NBA, McDonald's, AT&T, Morgan Stanley, Gucci, Bloomberg, and Colgate-Palmolive. Through its board members, GLSEN also maintains a relationship with the largest teachers union in the United States, the National Education Association.

GLSEN was founded by Kevin Jennings, who led the organization for about 17 years. As GLSEN executive director, Jennings wrote the foreword to a book called “Queering Elementary Education.” The book included chapters titled “Locating a Place for Gay and Lesbian Themes in Elementary … ” and “‘It’s Okay to be Gay’: Interrupting Straight Thinking in the English Classroom.”

In Jennings’ book “Becoming Visible: A Reader in Gay and Lesbian History for High School Students,” he wrote, “Some historians trace the development of homophobia in the West from the time when Christianity was adopted by the Romans. … Whether homophobia began in the late Roman Empire because of the introduction of Christianity or became widespread in the late Middle Ages for political reasons, one thing remains clear: Biblical scriptures were used to justify persecution of those who loved members of their own sex.”

700 Quakes Hit A Key California Seismic Zone, And Tar Is Literally Bubbling Up Through The Streets Of Los Angeles

June 10, 2019

Scientists are quite “concerned” about the huge earthquake swarm that has been shaking southern California in recent weeks, and right at this moment bubbling tar is literally coming up through the streets in one section of Los Angeles. None of this means that a major seismic event is imminent, but it is certainly not a good sign either. We have been tracking quite a bit of unusual shaking along the Ring of Fire in recent months, and scientists assure us that it is just a matter of time before “the Big One” hits southern California. And if you follow my work on a regular basis, then you already know that I am extremely concerned about the potential for major seismic activity along the west coast. So when I came across a San Diego Union-Tribune article entitled “Southern California earthquake swarm takes an unexpected turn, and that’s reason to worry”, it definitely got my attention. According to that article, there have been “more than 700 earthquakes” in the Fontana seismic zone over the past few weeks…

There have been more than 700 earthquakes recorded in the Fontana area since May 25, ranging from magnitude 0.7 to magnitude 3.2, recorded Wednesday at 5:20 p.m., according to Caltech staff seismologist Jen Andrews.

That is certainly a lot of earthquakes, but is this sort of activity unusual?

Well, according to one scientist, this is the “most prolific swarm” to hit that area “in the past three decades”

The likelihood of a larger seismic event, given so many quakes over such an extended period, is higher than normal, the scientist said.

“People ought to be concerned,” said Hauksson. “This is probably the most prolific swarm in that area of the Fontana seismic zone that we’ve seen in the past three decades.”

Once again, I want to stress that all of this activity does not mean that a major earthquake is about to happen.

But one day it is coming. In fact, scientists have told us that one day the entire San Andreas fault could “could unzip all at once”. And when that day finally arrives, there might not be any warning at all.

If you live in California, you should be prepared for earthquakes to occur at all times, and that means taking some reasonable precautions

In any home in seismically risky areas of California, experts recommend removing heavy objects around beds, strapping bookcases and dressers to walls, anchoring flat-screen televisions to walls, installing toddler safety latches on kitchen cabinets, and ensuring frames are attached to walls with quake-friendly hooks.

Hopefully there will not be a major quake any time soon, but over the past few days another ominous sign has made news.

According to one local news report, “bubbling tar” is actually coming up through the streets near the La Brea Tar Pits in Los Angeles…

And on Saturday, more seepage. Enough to draw the interests of tourists and residents alike.

CBS2’s Jake Reiner said tourists and residents alike have been coming to the area marveling at the bubbling tar.

Once again, this might be nothing.

But one local resident admitted that he had “never seen this before”, and apparently there is a very strong odor coming out of the ground

“You see a little bit of tar oozing up between the pavement,” Kogan says, “all over the neighborhood. That’s not unusual but this seems to be flow tar. I’ve never seen this before.”

Not to mention the constant hissing sound coming from the ground — it’s methane.

“I can smell it. I thought a car broke its oil pan out here,” says Patrick Myer.

I don’t know about you, but if you can literally hear methane coming out of the ground and bubbling tar is starting to come up through the streets, perhaps that is a sign that it is time to consider moving somewhere else.

But of course the truth is that our entire planet is becoming increasingly unstable. On Monday, a magnitude 4.0 earthquake struck near Cleveland. The following comes from CNN

A preliminary magnitude-4.0 earthquake was reported Monday about 20 miles northeast of Cleveland, in or around Lake Erie, the US Geological Survey said.

The earthquake, measuring 3.1 miles in depth, was reported just before 11 a.m. local time north-northwest of the city of Eastlake.

“Did you feel that rumble this morning Cleveland? Well if you missed it, we caught this morning’s earthquake on multiple #OHGO cameras. Check it out! #Clevelandreallyrocks,” the Ohio Department of Transportation tweeted, along with a collection of traffic videos showing the moment the quake hit.

And of course Cleveland is not very far from the New Madrid fault zone that I have been writing articles about again and again.

On the other side of the world, a huge volcano in Indonesia also erupted on Monday

A huge column of ash was blasted almost five miles into the sky above the Indonesian island of Sumatra after an active volcano erupted.

Mount Sinabung blew for nine minutes on Sunday, causing panic among the island’s residents.

Indonesian officials warned that further volcanic activity was possible, although the volanco’s alert level remained unchanged.

Major seismic events are happening so frequently now that it is really hard to keep up with them all.

But it is very important not to become numb to what is happening. Something strange really is happening to our planet, and many believe that it is going to get a lot worse.

As for California, scientists keep telling us that “the Big One” is way overdue, and when it finally arrives it could be a history altering event.

According to one team of scientists, an extremely large earthquake could potentially“plunge large parts of California into the sea almost instantly”. Such an event would be far worse than anything that any Hollywood earthquake movie ever envisioned, and let us pray that nothing like that happens any time soon.
