Ebola 'PERFECT STORM' as WHO chiefs predict 'major outbreak within weeks'

EBOLA could see a major outbreak "within weeks" as there is "perfect storm" conditions to allow the disease to run rampant, health chiefs have warned.

World Health Organisation (WHO) bosses issued the dire warning over Ebola today at a briefing on the diseased in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC).

Dr Peter Salama warned of “perfect storm” conditions which could trigger a massive spread of the disease.

He warned WHO are “extremely concerned” about the current trends in combating Ebola in DRC.

Ebola infected scores people in the African nation earlier this year, with relief efforts hampered by people refusing vaccines.

The health chief warned Ebola could spread because of attacks by armed groups, community resistance and the geographic spread of the disease.

OUTBREAK: World Health Organisation chiefs fears a 'perfect storm' for an Ebola outbreak

“We are now extremely concerned that several factors may be coming together...to create a perfect storm”

Dr Peter Salama

Ebola is spread through bodily fluids, and its symptoms include uncontrolled bleeding, vomiting blood, muscle pain, headaches and reduced passing of urine.

It is highly infectious and extremely lethal and caused chaos in West Africa back in 2013 to 2016.

More than 11,000 people died in nearly 30,000 confirmed cases in that outbreak, according to the World Health Organisation.

Congo has experienced 10 outbreaks since 1976 – but authorities have been successful in containing it.

VACCINES: Doctors are trying their best to reduce the risk of an Ebola outbreak

"We are now extremely concerned that several factors may be coming together over the next weeks and months to create a perfect storm," Dr Salama said.

DRC health chiefs have confirmed 55 deaths from Ebola this year – with treatment currently being offered free to stem the outbreak.

However, whole regions of the country are described as "no-go zones" as aid workers can't access them.

Ebola is thought to be spread over long distances by bats and is often passed on to humans in bush meat sold at markets.

NewsReal: Israeli-French Deception Downs Russian Spy Plane Off Syria, US Escalates 'Regime Change' Against Iran

NewsReal Russian plane Syria
Israel has finally been called to the carpet by Russia over its deceitful actions last week that led to the accidental downing of a Russian IL-20 reconnaissance plane off the coast of Latakia in western Syria that killed 14 of its servicemen. This week onNewsReal with Joe & Niall, they discuss the incident in the context of last week's surprise announcement of a Turkish-Russian plan to deal with 'the Idlib cauldron' jointly.

Also, a bloody terror attack in Ahvaz, southwestern Iran on Saturday underscored the urgency that renewed sanctions bring to that country's predicament: is 'regime change' imminent? And will the US/Israel 'go for the jugular' in the course of generating socio-economic upheaval in yet another country, they believe, is 'ripe for democracy'?

Live audio broadcast this Sunday 23rd September from 16:00 UTC / 12:00 EST / 18:00 CET. Video podcast available here later.

Typhoon Trami tracker: Category 5 Super Typhoon heads for Taiwan and Japan - latest update

TYPHOON Trami is roaring around the western Pacific, as the most recent category 5 typhoon to take shape during the Pacific typhoon season. What is typhoon Trami's path?

Typhoon Trami’s presence in the Pacific ocean marks the third major typhoon to enter the area in the last two months.

Hong Kong, China and the Philippines have been at the mercy of some devastating storms this year, with Mangkhut the most recent.

Winds pushing upwards of 110mph battered the Philippines, trapping people under landslides killing 100.

Manghkut then brushed Hong Kong with weakening but still powerful winds of 100mph, smashing windows and flooding parts of the region.

Where is Typhoon Trami?

Typhoon Trami is currently based off the Japanese coast, 486 miles south from Kadena, Okinawa.

The system has been relatively slow as it progresses over the Pacific, travelling at a total speed of three miles per hour.

However, as a super typhoon, it carries the strength of a category 5 hurricane, spinning at 161 mph.

Conditions in the sea are likely to coax Trami into continuing its path northwest without losing much power, as high surface temperatures of 30C are conductive to typhoons.

Where will typhoon Trami make landfall?

Super typhoon Trami is making tracks for Taiwan and Japan’s Ryukyu islands later this week.

The typhoon could make landfall in islands just off Taipei by Saturday, with an intensity of 120mph, a category 3 storm.

Trami may gather speed later on, as when it reaches Okinawa, the system could be spinning at 130mph as category 4 on the Saffir-Simpson scale.

However, prognostic reasoning from the Joint Typhoon Warning Centre (JRWC) is expecting the system to travel very slowly.

Forecasts suggest the storm could even sit “quasi-stationary” in the Pacific after making progress northward.

As of yet, there are no areas under a tropical cyclone warning, but there are gale warnings in and around the Philippines.

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) has warned off sea travel in the Philippines, around the northern and eastern seaboards of Luzon.

Trami is already encouraging rough seas in the Philippine Area of Responsibility, where waves are reaching 2.8-4.5 metres high.

What is Pacific typhoon season?

The Pacific typhoon season is an annual event taking place in the Pacific Ocean, where certain conditions encourage regular strong storms to form.

Typhoon season exists alongside the Atlantic hurricane season, which sees the US also battered by heavy storms and hurricanes.

The period is defined by storms pushing winds of 75mph, registering on the Saffir-Simpson hurricane scale on a category of 1-5.

Storms are allowed to form in the season due to warmer seas caused by Summer heating, which push clouds into the atmosphere.

These clouds then swirl in a ‘turbine’ motion, gathering speed as they move inland, and then whip mainland areas with extreme winds.

Hurricane Florence and typhoon Mangkhut have been traditionally symptomatic of the season, with a number of deaths and heavy infrastructure damage inflicted as a result of their high winds.

Over 3,300 Syrian Civilians Killed in US-Led Airstrikes: Report

(ANTIWAR.COM) — On Sunday, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights issued a statement reckoning the results of the US-led coalition attacking targets across Syria since 2014. Four years later, they have killed over 3,300 civilians.

This is far in excess of Pentagon official figures on the number of civilians killed. There is no official figure for the US-led coalition just in Syria, but the combination of civilians killed in both Syria and Iraq are only 1,061 according to the Pentagon’s count.

The vast majority of the other killed were simply never officially documented, as the Pentagon found many of the largest death tolls “not credible.” The Observatory’s reckoning suggests that the civilians are among the 12,000 “rebels” killed overall by the coalition.

While NGO groups like the Syrian Observatory and Airwars have limited access to information on death tolls, they both tend to come up with similar tolls, far higher than the official figures. This is unsurprising, as the official groups have little interest in keeping track of who they’ve killed, and ample reason to hide the worst incidents of civilian deaths.
