Hi Roger, I take the blockers, too. I read recently that if you have taken the 40 mg. proton pump inhibitors for many years you are at greater risk for fracture of the wrist, spine, or hip, if my memory serves me correctly. I have been on them for many years, plus have osteopenia, which is some bone loss but not as much as osteoporosis. I have decided to try taking the prescribed 40 mg. every other night, and over-the-counter 20 mg. every other night. I tried not taking the medicine for three nights in a row, but ended up with very bad acid reflux, so "cold turkey" withdrawal of the medicine is not the way to go. DonnaZ
