You are right as usual Roger, though to be frank, I still have to find a Modigliani that really impresses me as a great master work, one that makes me say WOW (though I must admit, I almost never say WOW at anything). Maybe the one below? It is a ferocious portrait of a lady, with in my opinion lots of creativity in it, and it bears the mark of the genius. Note that it was painted in 1916, four years before his death. I think Modigliani's life was too short; a few years more and he could have produced genuine masterpieces on a par with those of the world's greatest artists. What a pity. As it was, he somehow almost became a prisoner of his own style of elongated figures, though as you aptly point out, this in no way diminished his merits as a portraitist, on the contrary, it further stressed them.
